Sunday River

I first went to Sunday River last April (2008) on a ski trip. Having been skiing since I was 3 and having been on loads of ski holidays, I was really looking forward to this one. Especially as it was first time skiing in America. Sunday River itself is based in the state of New England, inside Maine. The resort has been around for quite a while and as you can see from the picture, the runs are cut out of the trees. If you are planning a big skiing holiday, this is the place to go. This place offers a large variety of different slopes and environments to suit everyone's needs. Who needs to go to the highly expensive alps when you can experiance something ten times better? I recently travelled to the Sunday River and was anxious about skiing for the first time in the USA. But after a day of skiing lessons, I soon got into the american way of things. The lessons are more about having fun than having to scrupiosuly go through each technique to get it perfect, like in the Alps. Sunday River is a wonderful ski resort located in Maine, on the east coast of the United States. I say it is the best on the east coast as it is the west, the rocky mountains, colorado, etc, that have the reputation for great U.S. skiing. Sunday River may not be quite on par with west coast skiing, or with some glorious locations outside the U.S. But it does deserve some recognition. I grew up skiing Sunday River. I've always had a good experience with their snowmaking (even have been up skiing as early as thanksgiving) and their variety of trails.
