Advantages: Easy to get to, everything is high quality, classy feel

Disadvantages: Taxis, food, drink all expensive. Can be too snowy.

This Norwegian ski resort is not terribly well known or frequented by non-Scandinavians and it does go some considerable way towards hidden gem status.
It's much easier to get to than one might at first think, as there is a superb bus service from Gardermoen airport. You don't have to book in advance and the bus company guarantees a seat for everyone who wants one, putting on extra vehicles as necessary.
In the resort there is a wide range of hotel and self catering accommodation. Our favourite, in the Hoyfjellsenter, is genuine ski-in, ski-out. The range of restaurants is small (though the prices are not - we budget a minimum of £20 a head for a modest evening meal) but the quality is superb.
As for the skiing, the two times we have gone (in successive Februarys) snow has been plentiful with off-piste literally outside your kitchen window if you want it, and well-groomed, wide and empty pistes close to hand. The lift queues tend to be short and very polite, but it can be snowy and windy during the day, reducing skiing time.
There's probably not enough challenge for advanced skiers to want to go back, but for intermediates Trysil is an excellent playground.
I don't know about apres-ski, though it's as well to warn the unwary that alcohol prices are sky high in Norway.
