Advantages: Great Scenery, you can tell your friends you went skiing in Switzerland

Disadvantages: It's expensive

Verbier is a very nice ski resort, it's quite a large village so there is a decent selection of bars, restaurants and shops which is certainly nice if you want to take a break from skiing one day. Although I warn you make sure your doing your currency conversions right as it's really not cheap, ok we all know Switzerland is not cheap to start with but comparing prices with sports shops in Geneva and in Verbier I found quite a difference. One other thing that bothered me were the first lifts from the village up the mountain. There were 2 sets of lifts next to one another but each one didn't fit many people so I could see there being queues in peak season. A nice thing about the lifts is that there is another lift right to the bottom of the mountain so if your staying outside the village you can park at the bottom and take a lift up to the village, strongly reommended for anyone without 4 wheel drive. Final point on the lifts passes are expensive.

Once up the mountain there are numerous pistes and lifts and I like the fact there were enough pistes with covered lifts to keep me occupied as I really dislike the open air lifts. I also found that the resort staff were very nice and helped you get your ski's off of the cable cars. The restaurants on the pistes are not the greatest quality but you do get good size portions which is what counts when you skiing.

As for the skiing, I really enjoyed it, there were some great slopes, with some steep fun parts and then some nice calm parts where the slopes went through the trees where you could take it easy, relax and enjoy your surroundings it was realy like being in a fairy tale. The resort also has a lot of snow making machines although they weren't really needed when I was there as a great deal of snow fell and with the snow came Fog which didn't make for good visability as it also created ice inside my goggles and everyones elses who I was with.

The whole area has
fantastic scenery, I would recommend going to Verbier providing your not travelling on a budget.
