Advantages: High altitude, great powder, amazing moguls, friendly atmosphere

Disadvantages: Long flight from the UK

Winter Park resort is one of the nearest ski resorts to Denver (about 60 miles) and offers great skiing and snow boarding for all abilities. BA offers a daily direct flight from Heathrow to Denver and you can then take the Home James shuttle service up to the resort which takes about 2 hours depending on road conditions, particularly over Berthoud Pass. The altitude of downtown Winter Park is over 8,000ft and most of the skiing is above 9,000ft so snow conditions are almost always great. The resort has the highest 6 pack chair in North America going up to Parsenn Bowl at over 12,000ft with an amazingly long run down and fantastic views over the Continental Divide. The Mary Jane side of WP is renowned for its bumps and people come from everywhere to try them! Home to the National Disabled Skiing Centre. Still mostly unspoilt but developing fast.

Summary: Worth the journey as the snow is always great
