Advantages: Value for money, moist

Disadvantages: Sting the face if you have sensitive skin

Face wipes are an essential part of my daily routine I probably use on average 3 face wipes every day. So as much as I like to care for my skin, affordable face wipes are also a preference as it starts to get costly purchasing more expensive packs of face wipes. So whilst browsing the aisles of Asda picking up my grocery shop I came across the own brand Asda Essential Care Fragranced Cleansing Wipes.

***Price & Availability***
As these are Asda branded products they are only available from Asda stores. In my local Asda store one pack of 30 wipes cost 98p. The wipes are also available on offer for 3 packs for £2. Even if you don't buy these wipes on multibuy offer you will still pay 1/3 of the price of branded face wipes such as Olay, Nivea or L'Oreal.

***Packaging ***

The packaging of the wipes is very plain. White Asda branded packaging with not a great deal of font or imagery on in.

The wipes have a peel back re-sealable opening when you need to remove the wipes. The re-sealable opening is quite sticky so even when the pack is nearly finished with the label still remains closed, stopping the wipes from drying out.

***Claims***

The wipes offer a 4 in 1 solution to face care; make up removal, cleanser, toner and moisturiser. The wipes are also hypoallergenic, colour free, contain Vitamin E and pro- vitamin B5. They also claim to be soap and alcohol free so after reading the packaging I thought that these would be great for my sensitive skin.

*** Are they any good***

I wear a fair bit of make up on a daily basis, and even more so on a night out. With some brands of face wipes I need to use two wipes to remove my make up (particularly my night out make up).

When the wipes are removed from the packet I firstly noticed that they are a reasonable size and secondly are very moist. The wipes do not have any real smell to them, a slight floral hint but nothing specific.

When I proceeded to take my make up off, I was pleasantly surprised how easily and quickly my make up came off. Rather than having to scrub my face to take off my foundation I simply had to wipe over my face. My eye make up also came of with ease (waterproof eyeliner and mascara) and only took a few wipes per eye, rather than scouring my eyes until they are red and puffy. For a full face of make up I only had to I only had to use one wipe to take the make up off.

After using the wipe I did feel that my make up had been thoroughly removed and that my face had been cleansed and toned. My face felt wet due to the wipes being moist, but not moisturised. These would be great if you have oily skin as the moisturizing action is not at all greasy but you have quite dry skin then you would need to put on moisturizer separately.

Unfortunately after use my face started to sting. The stinging sensation did not occur every time that I used the wipes but did the majority of the time. My face felt like it was tingling for about 5 minutes after use which was very unpleasant and uncomfortable. Although my skin is reasonably sensitive at times I would not consider it as sensitive and purchase products for sensitive skin. If you do have sensitive skin I would not recommend these wipes at all.

My best friends' use these face wipes and absolutely rave about how great they are. None of them have sensitive skin so they do not get the stinging sensation that I get after using the face wipes. I do agree with my friends that the wipes are great for removing make up, I just can't put up with the stinging sensation on my face after using them.

***Would I recommend them***

To someone who has very sensitive skin... absolutely not! The stinging sensation for at least five minutes after use is not at all pleasant and I would recommend using SIMPLE FACEWIPES which are great for people with sensitive skin; albeit they do cost circa £2.50 per pack. For people with "normal" skin YES definitely buy these. The ASDA wipes will even remove make up that has been applied with a trowel.... And at 98p for 30 wipes they are very good value for money! Wipe away!

Summary: Great wipes... just not if you have sensitive skin
