Advantages: fairly cheap

Disadvantages: It doesn't work!

I was doing some sorting out, and I came across a shoe-box of stuff I’d forgotten about. Along with various other strange and random things – a green toy dog we won at a fair (my boyfriend named it spinach features) and some furry cat ears and collar (make of that what you will) - was this Avon Tea Tree Blemish Stick.
As you may have guessed from the fact that it was relegated to an old shoe-box, this is not my favourite product. In fact, when I’m finished writing this review (and warning you all!) I’ll throw it out.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

To put it simply, this is a tea tree solution which is applied directly onto spots or blemishes to (supposedly) get rid of them.

It comes in a small green tube, which contains 7ml of the liquid. The tube is similar to a lip gloss, with a white plastic wand with which the solution is applied.

I have never had full-blown acne, even when I was a teenager, I just get the odd spot here and there, probably caused by my poor diet! When I do get a spot, I tend to use another Avon product called ‘targeted blemish remover’ which is a gel that you apply in a similar way, and it really does get rid of spots quickly.
I think this was a big factor in why I bought this in the first place, as I assumed that if one Avon product was so good, then others would be just as great, wouldn’t they? Also, when I was a teenager I used to buy bottles of tea tree oil from the body shop and apply it directly onto spots as it has great antiseptic properties.
I’m pretty certain this product doesn’t just contain tea tree oil, as it’s the wrong consistency, but as to the ingredients, I am at a loss, as they are not printed on the bottle.

USING IT

You need to apply this directly onto the spot using the wand. How hygienic this is I don’t know, especially as you are touching the wand from the spot back to the tube and so on, I would think it will get contaminated pretty quickly.

The first thing you will notice when applying this is that the wand is pretty scratchy. It is just a plastic stick with a slanted end, which can feel quite irritating to your skin.

It smells quite strongly of tea-tree, which is not the nicest smell ever, I always think it smells quite medicated.

As with most tea-tree products, your skin will probably feel a bit tingly for a while
after you first apply this, but that effect will soon disappear.

I suppose the next step, would be to wait for your spot to magically disappear – well you’ll be waiting some time. Obviously you would not expect this to happen immediately, but so far after several applications of this, for me, it has never worked at all. It does not even appear to have a drying effect, or shrink the spot at all. Perhaps this is just me, and maybe it works for other people, but so far this has not had any effect for me whatsoever, and I would definitely not recommend this product. Instead try the targeted blemish remover.

I'm never convinced by the claims of products like this.
