Advantages: Does make eyes feel moisturised after using.
Disadvantages: Doesnt remove eye make up very well at all.
When my Avon lady came round I already knew what I wanted (for once). I needed some black mascara and as I didn't want anything else decided I would order it from Avon to give my rep, Anita an order lol
Looking through the catalogue I spied on this occasion that the mascara I wanted was £7.00 or free if I bought something else! Wow I thought so I ordered cheapest thing to make the offer up and it happened to Avon - Conditioning Eye Makeup Remover Lotion.
Now as I've got older I do use eye make up remover, just to try to be a bit kinder to my skin and of course I do follow through with cleanser and toner or wipes. I have incredibly sensitive eyes and alot of things I try (sensitive formulas or not) are very hit an miss with me. Also I find I have to really make sure that my eye make up is completely off my eyelids when it comes to removal. As I've had some nasty eye infections lately due to bits of glitter particles been ingrained into my eyelashes and me thinking I had removed everything properly.
Personally in my case, I need something very sensitive but heavy duty. Think Amy Winehouse when you think of my eye make up. Ok I may not be quite as stark and bald as her but I use everything I can lay my hands on at trying to achieve a modern, open eyed look and to be honest the reasoning behind it? Well I'm 33 and I'm getting a wee bit paranoid as my eyelids are quite sagging!
So anyway my eye make up. I tell you this list so you can see what an eye make up remover has to combat when it comes to me! Foundation, Foundation Primer, Eye Primer, Pressed Powder. Eyeliner pencil (black), Eyeliner (wet, black glitter), Barry M or such like heavy duty, heavy pigmented eye-shadows, (usually dusts) eyebrow pencil and several lashings off mascara!
So as you can see, yes I'm asking alot. I like my eye make up removers to get rid of all that and I am prepared to put the work in and then I cleanse and tone afterwards to make sure any remnants are gone. Now I have found eye make up removers that do remove that little lot so I know it's do-able lol
The Packaging Of Avon Conditioning Eye Makeup Remover Lotion.
150ml recyclable white plastic squeezable bottle with black shiny screw on/off cap.On the front is a see through label with gold writing on it telling me what it is and who it is by. On the back tells me how to use it, the ingredients, contact details for Avon and loads of stuff in foreign languages. All in all not a bad bottle but not exactly something that would scream buy me now, must be why its only in a catalogue cos this wouldn't jump off the shelves in Boots lol
How To Use....
Gently sweep over eye to remove all traces of make up.
My Opinion....
I used mine last night after wearing all of the above products all day long. I put some on a cotton wool ball and was amazed at what a mess I got into to. Firstly I knew I'd put to much on to the cotton wool balls but it was a bit late as I splodged it on to my face to stop it dripping everywhere and as I rubbed I spread the make up from eyes all over the place because the cotton wool ball couldn't 'grab' the make up and hold it. I usually use an eye make up remover that is more of a wet lotion oily liquid that lifts my make up off me and takes it away and then I keep going with more cotton wool but as I say this being more of a cream just liked to make one big mess. So I tried the less is more approach and just put a bit of the lotion on a large cotton wool pad and wiped eye up gently off my eyes.
I found the white lotion to be quite messy although it didn't feel uncomfortable lifting off my eye make up, even the glitter particles didn't graze me as I didn't need excessive rubbing. At this point I was fairly impressed and felt I had been the one in the wrong and I had misjudged the product. It didn't irritate my eyes at all.
Eyes after removing the product did feel moisturised and even after I followed up with cleanser and toner my eyes still felt extra specially soft. Eye areas did look clean and the cleanser and toner did remover further more make up.
So today I get up and my eyes feel a bit grimy. I look in the mirror and I got visible eye make up under the rims of my eyes! So Again I used the eye make up remover and yes you guessed it, it removed more! I cleansed and toned again and yes that removed more as well! So my eyes were mucky!
Verdict...
Waste of money. Eyes looked clean and they weren't it was deceptive. Not good for someone who buys these products especially eh cos we care enough to purchase it in the first place and some people don't bother! I feel almost certain that if I repeat the process I've already done twice it will lift yet more off. I have sensitive eyes and it simply isn't on (or in this case it flipping is). This product normally costs £3.00 if not in a deal and I'd avoid at all costs. Even now my eyes feel a bit dirty and I'm going to have to revert back to my usual eye make up remover.
I really think this is rubbish and a total let down its just terrible I cant get over it lol
Summary: Avoid, it's rubbish.
