Advantages: Decreased size of pores

Disadvantages: Not for sensitive skins, didn't stop spots

I have only recently started using toner. My first toner, which I recently reviewed, was by Simple, but I wasn't too impressed with it. My second, and the subject of this review, is Solutions Plus Total Radiance Skin Refining Toner.

You can buy this toner from Avon, either through your local representative or through the online shop. It has a normal price of £3 for 200 ml, but I got mine on offer for £2 and the current brochure price is just £1.50, so it's worth keeping an eye out for bargains.

Avon's Solutions Plus is a range of skincare that has several categories within it, such as Pore Fection, for oily skin, Ageless, for older skin, and Maximum Moisture, for dry skin. The Total Radiance category is for people with dull skin or anyone who wants some added luminosity.

The bottle tells you to use the toner after cleansing and to put some on cotton wool then sweep it over your face in outward motions. The website promises that the toner will 'wipe away impurities, minimise pores and instantly leave skin looking shine-free without drying'. This will lead to 'fresh, balanced, energised looking skin'.

The toner comes in a cylindrical bottle which is a dull white colour. It has no pictures and just some simple orange and grey writing in a basic font. At first I thought it looked cheap but I have no decided it looks like one of those pricey, no nonsense skincare ranges that celebrities use! Well, I am allowed to be a bit delusional!

The top of the bottle is a bit annoying as it only has a tiny hole and so rather than just tipping some toner out, you have to squeeze the bottle to get it out. It's not a big issue but it is not perfect.

When using the toner I find that it feels cool and a bit stingy. Unlike the Simple toner I wouldn't use this near my eyes as I think it would hurt, and I wouldn't recommend it for very sensitive skins as I imagine it would feel a bit harsh and might irritate them. However it is OK for me and I find that it leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean.

I have also noticed a slight difference in the size of the pores around my nose and on my forehead. I actually think they have decreased in size a bit which is quite exciting! However my skin is prone to spots and the toner does not seem to have helped that at all.

This doesn't seem to be my perfect toner as it doesn't help with my skin blemishes, so I will be trying others next, however I would consider returning to this in the future if I cannot find a better one.

Summary: I might return to it!
