Bio oil works! (Bio Oil)

Advantages: Smells scrummy, easily absorbed and most importantly it works

Disadvantages: can seem expensive but it really does last a while

I started using bio oil when I cut myself and had an ugly mark that I was worried would scar. I plastered it on every morning and evening diligently. The cut did scare unfortunately but only half of it did and it is raised which I think no cream, lotion, ointment, oil or potion can control. It's just the way my skin went back together. I definitely think bio oil did some damage-limitation with this one. So I think the trick is, if you are worried that something might possibly scar, start plastering on the boil oil as soon as possible.

Because it worked well on my scar-to-be, I decided to invest in bucket loads of the stuff once I found out I was a mum-to-be. I was paranoid about getting stretch marks. So far (8 months in) no stretch marks. I really do think it is down to the oil.

It smells really nice and is so easily absorbed. I ran out and used some neat vitamin E oil instead for a few days and boy was it greasy. Bio oil supposedly contains additional oils to vitamin E that helps the skin to absorb the vitamin E quickly and it is the vitamin E that helps skin tissue rebuild itself. I would recommend it to help prevent stretch marks and even if it doesn't manage to save the day, it feels lovely on your skin and smells divine so there's no harm in trying.

I thought it was expensive at £15 for a 200ml bottle but it actually spreads very well and lasts a long time. I would spend that on a moisturiser for my face and I figured my expanding tummy needed a treat. Then when I found out how really expensive some other anti stretch mark oils are, like Clarins, I figured actually bio oil is pretty reasonable.

Honestly, it works!
