Advantages: Specialist product, easily avaliable at chemists or supermarkets, natural

Disadvantages: Expensive (but will last a long time)

Anyone who has ever suffered some kind of skin defect like scarring or stretch marks will often understand how bad scars left over from any life experiences that cause scars like pregnancy and acne can leave someone feeling. Personally, when I was younger I did suffer from moderate acne and I have a couple of scars left over from spots I tried to pick.

One thing I do like about Bio Oil is that it is natural, as I have found natural products to be much better than using the 'specialist' products like Clearasil that claim to fight spots and redness and so on, but in truth really I found that they only made my face worse. Ever since I started using natural remedies, I found that they worked much better and now I have very few breakouts, it's just the scars left I have to remove...

Having seen the adverts for Bio Oil and hearing about it working wonders I decided to give it a try, despite the price (I paid £8 for a 60ml bottle) it does seem to be doing some good, but progress is slow. However, I do think it is helping in my regime to remove the scars I have left over.

Packaging 5/5
The design and packaging is very neat and tidy, which does well to promote the product as it is natural. The bottle consists of a large white lid and a clear plastic outer casing, so you can see the oil inside. The bottle and box it came in both give instructions on how to use it to achieve the desired effect. The bottle states that Bio Oil is a specialist skincare in treating scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, ageing skin and dehydrated skin.

The Oil 4/5
The oil itself has a nice, pleasant scent to it that smells quite similar to baby oil. When applying it to an affected area you are supposed to rub it in until the skin has absorbed most of the oil, however I have found that it is difficult to get the oil absorbed into the skin so normally I will massage it in and then leave some of it above the skin to be absorbed naturally. The best time to use the oil in slightly larger quantities is before bed, as it can make the face in particular look greasy.

Effects 4/5
So far, after just over 3 weeks use, the oil does seem to have improved my complexion a little but I did not expect results over night. I will continue to use the Oil until my bottle runs out (which should be around 6 months time) and see whether or not to buy another bottle, and hopefully it will have proved to be a great buy.

Scars - 4/5

Stretch marks - Not sure but there are good reviews about it fighting stretch marks

Uneven skin tone - 3/5

Ageing skin - 3/5

Dehydrated skin 4/5

Summary: For anyone with skin defects of any kind it is worth a try
