A Non Greasy Oil! (Bio Oil)

Bio Oil is a skin care product. It has been around for a number of years, and has declared itself as a product that can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars, along with being helpful for 'aging and dehydrated skin'. It has become a product used world wide. It has many fans but alongside this it also has many critics. It can be bought in a 60 ml container or a 100 ml, and retails from £4.00 upwards.

Bio Oil is an oil. It contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin oil, this is meant to be the active miracle worker. It does recommend that you use the oil for a minimum of three months before you see any positive results, which I assume applies more to the stretch marks, scarring and skin discolouration.

I have had this 'miracle' oil in my cupboard for a number of years now. Initially I bought it for the healing/reducing of stretch marks and scars. Everyone was raving about it, magazines were over advertising it, so I gave it a go. As I'm not a very patient person, and not seeing the results I wanted, I soon gave up on the oil and pushed it to the back of my cupboard.

Roll on a few years, and the oil is back in use, this time for a different purpose, and doing well! Living in a hot country, and having to be subjected to air conditioners, my skin has suffered. It really does not know whether it is coming or going, sweaty moments followed by chilly dry air. As I'm aging (oh, the thought!) I am fully aware of all the creams that I should be putting on my face, to stop the lines and make me look so much younger! After trying several different 'good' night creams, my skin was just not happy. The creams were just clogging my pores and causing outbreaks.

In desperation I got the Bio Oil out. At first, it seems so greasy, I was scared to put it on my face. It is only common sense that anything greasy would just cause more problems. How wrong was I. The oil slides so easily across any bodily surface, that only a tiny bit needs to be applied. It does seem greasy for a few seconds and then it just leaves my face feeling ultra smooth. It is recommended that the oil is massaged into your skin using circular movements, until completely absorbed.

Bio Oil has a very 'clean' scent (it reminds me a bit of Johnsons baby products), which I like. I am actually only applying it night when I sleep in an air conditioned room. After using it for 6 weeks, my skin has cleared up and it definitely feels and looks so much better. I am still using my first 60 ml bottle, so it does go a long way.

I would most certainly recommend this oil as a moisturizer and for dehydrated skin. I am quite convinced that it cannot reduce stretch marks or heal scars completely, I gave up on it for this use, but, as I have read, it does help. I have found a product that has solved my night time wrinkles (for now) and will continue to use it as my main mosituriser. It is simple to use, a reasonable price, lasts a long time, and you only need to use a small amount.
