Advantages: Works well and heals cuts as well as chapped lips

Disadvantages: Can become addicted as your skin and lips can become reliant on it

Having bought this not so long ago, I already seem addicted to it! It set me back all of £2.50 for the little 7ml pot! I am sure it is cheaper elsewhere so keep your eyes out- I was desperate as my lips were very sore and I was at a petrol service station, I was feeling sorry for myself as I had just missed my bus and had a long walk home or 45 minute wait! Lip balm just seemed to fit the bill...

I have been using it every day. Its done the trick in terms of healing my chapped lips, but I do have to say I am wary of the pot!

I am wary because I am very aware that man made paraffin waxes and glycerin's can actually in turn make your lips dry. They stop your body actually producing the very moisture it needs to keep your lips supple. Instead, your skin becomes reliant on the additives in the product and so stops producing its own. You don't notice this until you stop using the product and your lips appear very dry- in fact, more dry then they were to begin with. I have to state, in the defence of this lip balm, there are no paraffin waxes or glycerin's in, but there is petroleum and Lanolin, which is more or less the same thing (man made products). It does however have Cocoa seed butter and Aloe in too though.

In terms of over use of lip balm, its not something that is damage for life- give it a few days and your lips are back to normal, but not without feeling irritatingly dry for a good day or so.

I applied the conditioner, which is basically very much like Vaseline -but with a twist- it has this menthol type cooling effect- it can feel like your lips are slightly boosted- in a good way. I would liken it to the Carmex lip balms.

The actual product is transparent when applied- though has a yellowy sort of appearance in its little pot. Its very easy to carry around in a bag and the lid simply winds off to open, you apply with your fingers or lip brush (but lets face it, who applies lip balm with a lip brush?!)

As long as you don't eat or drink anything, or lick your lips or kiss... the product stays on for quite some time. Hours I'd say- I never did test it out to its full extreme there as I didn't fancy going 24 hours with no food or liquid. Even in the name of research!

I liked this product as it had a nice feel to it on my lips, as well as the cooling and slight buzzing effect, it was not greasy, it was a dense conditioner, and it did relieve the discomfort I had with me biting my lips plus them being chapped. It also shealed them from the wind. Instead of feeling pain every time a gust of wind flew at me, I really didn't notice at all. Great relief!

But like I say, it make my lips drier in the long term. I think the best way I have fund for this is to wean yourself off it- don't just stop suddenly, (OMG this is starting to sound like a proper addiction!!) or you will end up with moisture leached lips.
But instead, gradually, reduce your applications per hour, then per day, then per week, by then your skins natural moisturisation will have kicked in and in addition, the chapped or bitten lip problem you had in the first place will have gone as well.

Summary: A good problem solver for fast affective help. But can become its own problem.
