Advantages: Initial feeling is nice
Disadvantages: Doesn't last and doesn't moisturise
A couple of years ago Dave (hubby) decided to buy me a selection of different lip savers as stocking fillers at Christmas. I always suffer from dry lips especially in winter and I feel really uncomfortable if I am unable to moisturise my lips. I keep licking them which just makes matters worse!
Anyway amongst this selection was one called Blistex Drench Lip Splash Liquid Moisturiser. I hadn't tried this one before so I was looking forward to giving it a go.
It comes inside a little cardboard tube attached to a small piece of cardboard upon which is written 'Blistex new' together with a picture of a pair of well moisturised pink lips. The word 'Drench' is written on a further piece of cardboard standing proud of the cardboard tube at the bottom. If you look at the picture at the top of the review you'll see what I mean!
I opened the cardboard tube to find a small silver plastic tube with a screw top lid. When I unscrewed the lid I was surprised to find a silver roller ball - now this was different from any of the others I had tried!
The lip balm promised me an 'attractive, juicy, just licked effect' without the stickiness that you usually get with some of the lip balms.
The roller ball shone brightly with the liquid lip balm so I rubbed it over my lips. I could understand why the product was called Drench! My lips felt very wet and were also very shiny. The cold roller ball left my lips nice and cool too. The liquid tasted nice which isn't really a good idea with me as I keep licking my lips then!
Drench contains extracts of Jojoba which is a known moisturiser and also Aloe Vera to soothe, cool and moisturise. The result is supposedly a natural hypoallergenic liquid that 'mimics the skins natural oils'.
Drench also contains Canola and Castor Seed Oils which give the shiny look whilst also moisturising. There is also a sun protection factor of 15 included.
With all these products having a moisturising effect you would expect the lip splash to moisturise your lips wouldn't you? Well that was what I expected but I was disappointed. Whist it was pleasant enough to use the results did not last and certainly did not moisturise my lips once the initial wetness has disappeared.
I continued to use it occasionally until the tube was finished but I certainly shan't be buying any more of this one. I was really surprised that this wasn't any good as Blistex products are usually so good, but maybe it works well for other people who knows?
The current price of this is about £2.50 if you want to try it.
Summary: I won't be buying this one again!
