Advantages: Gorgeous smell, nice texture, lasts well, smooths lips

Disadvantages: none

I bought this last week because I needed a lip balm to keep in my car. I used to buy this lip balm when I was in school but haven't used it now for quite a while. My favourite flavours are strawberry and raspberry but I chose the raspberry one this time because the strawberry is a bit sickly. It is £3.00 for the 10ml pot, which is cheaper than I expected, I'm sure it hasn't gone up in price much since I last bought it years ago.

***Packaging...

It comes in a standard shape round plastic pot. It is clear so you can see the colour of the lip balm inside the pot. It has a sticker on the lid which covers it, it is a red background with a pink cloud-like shape containing the white Body Shop logo and "born Lippy Raspberry lip balm" in plain white lettering. The packaging sounds really simple, and I suppose it could look quite cheap but it is cute and I like it. It has a normal screw lid which is easy to remove and put back on.

***The Lip Balm...

The first thing is the smell, it is delicious! It has quite a strong smell which is good, because a lot of other lip balms have a bit of a faded smell that is barely there. Despite The Body Shop claiming it contains actual raspberry extract, it does smell fairly artificial. It is a very sweet smell, a bit like raspberry flavour sweets would smell. I love it though! The best thing about it is that you can taste it on your lips and it tastes just as good as it smells. There's no sign of the Vaseline like taste that most lip balms have, as it is completely disguised by the raspberry flavour.

It is a bright pink colour which doesn't come off on your lips (fortunately!) instead it creates a more toned down version which looks more like a slightly pink lip stain. I wouldn't buy this lip balm as a lip colour though as it really doesn't make a massive difference to the colour of your lips.

The lip balm is mainly made up of beeswax which The Body Shop say is from Zambia, where it is farmed in tropical forests using traditional methods. They claim that this helps to preserve the forest and the beekeepers lifestyle. I found this really interesting, and assuming it is true I thought this was good and made buying the product seem more worthwhile. The Body Shop say the beeswax acts like a barrier and holds moisture in. It also contains Lanolin which is a natural rich moisturiser.

As a lip balm I think it is really effective. It has a lovely rich texture, which isn't greasy but not watery either. In my opinion it is just the right feel and isn't sticky at all. It instantly hydrates my lips which is a really nice feeling when they have got quite dry. It doesn't dry out my lips at all and keeps the lips feeling soft for ages, without rubbing or sliding off. It also creates a lovely shine which looks as good as clear lip gloss.

When it is kept at room temperature it stays quite soft and feels quite gooey. However I've found with keeping it in my car all the time is goes quite hard because of the cold but it is still easy to apply.

***Overall Opinion...

This is a really good quality lip balm for a decent price. It has a lovely smell and stays on really well. I haven't found anything negative to say about it and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
