Advantages: Moisturising, non pore blocking, shine free, sensitive

Disadvantages: No SPF

As I have sensitive, acne-prone, oily skin which can also be dry, I was on the hunt for a moisturiser which would be moisturising enough, without breaking me out. It also needed to provide a good base for make-up. I've been a fan of the Boots Botanic range for a while now, they are skin care products which contain active plant extracts authenticated by the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew, in this instance it is Sweet Gale an 'antibacterial essential oil to purify the skin and fight bacteria associated with spots and blemishes'. They are extremely gentle, yet effective products, have never had any adverse effects on my skin and have always delivered what they promise to.

I've tried many, many moisturisers over the years, ranging from stores own brands, to the more high end products, to completely natural organic moisturisers. None of these have proved as successful as Boots Botanics Sensitive Oil Free Moisturiser.

The product itself is different from most moisturisers in that is is an almost clear gel, rather than a cream. It comes in a pump action bottle which is a plus, being far more hygenic than a tub, it also makes it easier to measure out how much product you want to use. As you get through the bottle it cleverly pushes the remaining moisturiser to the top, so that nothing goes to waste.

This moisturiser glides on and dries smoothly into my skin within seconds, providing a perfectly even and moisturised base for make-up. It is non greasy and leaves behind no residue. I was concerned that after a week or so of use, my skin would begin to become dry without the natural oils other moisturisers often contain, but this didn't happen. My skin is 100% smooth and flake free, my blemishes are also reduced.

At £4.88 this moisturiser is much cheaper than many others on the market, and is far superior to all of those I've tried. It would be even better if it contained an SPF, but it's still my all time favourite, and I won't be trying anything else anytime soon!

The label:

'Plant extracts at levels that really work, combined and formulated for unbeatable product performance. Naturally.

This silky smooth moisturising gel helps to soothe and calm delicate sensitive skin whilst working to clear and prevent skin blemishes. Leaves skin clear, healthy and shine free. Oil free. Non pore blocking'
