Advantages: Soft skin, value for money product

Disadvantages: Greasy consistency, need to use a seperate cleanser

A few months back I decided that I really should take greater care of my skin. On a good day I would remove make up with a make up wipe and that was it. On a bad day I would go to bed with make up on and sort the mess my face was in on a morning. These days I cleanse, tone, exfoliate and moisturise but since finding out that I am pregnant I have tried to purchase value for money products as opposed to more expensive brands. I would usually use a separate cleanser and toner but seen the Boot's Cucumber 2 in 1 cleanser and toner, and thought for the bargain price I would give it a try.


***Packaging***
The bottle is light green with a darker green plastic flip top lid. On the front of the bottle there is darker green writing with Boots 2 in 1 cleanser and toner written on the front of the bottle.

The shape and size of the bottle is quite compact and neatly fits into a travel bag if you are using this product on the go. The packaging is very plain therefore do not expect a fancy cleanser bottle to display on a dressing table.

***Price***
The price of a 150ml bottle is £1.49. This is very reasonable as the product lasted for over a month when used daily and compared to branded cleansers (i.e. L'Oreal) costs a lot less. This is not the best cleanser you could use, therefore if performance is your main concern expect to pay more for a higher quality product.

***Application***
The instructions on the bottle suggest the product should be applied to cotton wool, and swept across the face. This should be then rinsed or wiped off the face.

Only a small amount needs to be applied to the cotton wool pad as a small amount of product goes a long way as the lotion is quite greasy. The lotion is a very light green/ cream colour and has quite a strong cucumber scent to it. A benefit of the lotion being greasy that the cleanser glides over the skin and doesn't drag the face on your skin. However after using water and rinsing my face I still felt my skin had greasy feel to it which was quite unpleasant. I used a face wipe to get rid of this feeling; therefore I would suggest using wipes to get rid of this product as opposed to water.

The bottle states that the product is dermatologically tested and is lanolin free. I have sensitive skin and I am pleased to say this product had no nasty side effects and did not leave my skin red and sore like some cleansers have.


***Results***
As mentioned above my skin felt slightly greasy after use and I did not find that the immediate effects were as pleasant as other cleansers I had used. I prefer my skin to feel clean and fresher after using cleanser and not to feel like residue is still left on my face.

The product was very effective in terms of removing all traces of make up that was left on my face which was a definite benefit of using this product.

As a 2 in 1 product I would not rate this product at all and ended up using a separate toner in order to get the results I would expect from separate cleansing and toning products. I feel that using a separate toner leaves my face feeling more refreshed and my skin appears more glowing and smoother. As a cleanser this simply is a satisfactory product and after a few days of use, combined with my other skincare products my skin looked and felt soft.


***Overall***
This is by no means a bad product but I have used better cleansing products for the money. I would also prefer to use a separate cleanser and toner and when using this product I ended up using a separate toner anyway. I would probably put this in a travel bag and use when I need a convenient product, which I would only use for a few nights. I quite like the cucumber scent however this is quite a strong smell so obviously not for those that dislike cucumbers. Results wise this left my skin soft and removed make up fully but I felt the product was overly greasy and I had to use a separate toner and face wipe to ensure the cleansing/ toning lotion was fully removed from my face which water alone would not do.

Summary: A value for money 2 in 1 cleanser and toner from Boots
