Advantages: Smooth to skin, very moist, they don't dry out. Didn't irritate my skin

Disadvantages: Did not remove all traces of my eye make up.

If I am feeling a little bit lazy after a late night out or simply just want to refresh my face on a hot summers day I love to have a handy packet of cleansing wipes in. As I have said before I do love a good deal and bargain and in the past I have tended to buy the Simple brand of makeup remover / cleansing wipes purely because I have always found them no an offer in Tesco or Superdrug but when I last went into my local Boots store, looking to buy some more of my tried and now trusted eye makeup remover I stumbled upon the Cucumber Cleansing Wipes.


The Cucumber Cleansing wipes, which are exclusive to Boots are part of the shops Cucumber skincare range. This includes the eye makeup remover and 2 in 1 cleanser that I use. As I said I have never used the wipes before but they were on a deal of buy 1 get 1 free and that sounded too good to turn down!


The Wipes cost £2.69 per pack and for this you get 30 wipes. If you are a Boots advantage card holder this will earn you 8 points and you can buy the wipes either in store or online at www.boots.com. The wipes are said to remove makeup and excess oils and leave your skin smooth, clean and soft. So with this promise in mind I got my eye make up remover and my great deal on the cleansing wipes and off I went!


The Wipes come in the usual green packaging that all the other products in the cucumber range are found. The packaging is really simple with the Boots logo on the front and the name of the product and then when you turn the Wipes to the back you can find the directions for use and what the product promises to do for your skin.


As with most skin wipes you find a self-seal label at the front where when you peel it back the wipes are removed and to stop the wipes drying out you then put the sticky label back down. I have to say it took a bit of peeling to open this pack of wipes and with no nails this was a difficult task but once I had my wipe out I was ready to give it a go and for all the difficulty it took to get into the wipes the sticky seal stayed put, keeping all the other wipes moist and fresh.


What I noticed about these wipes is how moist they were. I have tried wipes in the past when they are quite dry even before I apply them to my skin. When I first applied these wipes to my skin the moisture really did hep as they glided over my skin rather than me having to scrub at different areas. On a day to day basis I do not tend to use a great deal of make up but I do apply powder and blusher or a bronzer to my face and I have to say that this came off with ease.


When it came to taking my eye make up off the wipes were not quite so effective. I use eye shadow and one coat of mascara on a day to day basis and found that it did leave a few traces of the mascara but in all I did was wipe over my eye with the Cucumber Eye make up remover from the same range. I have not found many wipes that remove all traces of make up so I have no real reason to complain.


The Wipes contain Aloe Vera and Vitamin E which is said to help soften and smooth the skin and in my opinion my skin was left feeling really soft after using the wipes. The wipes did not irritate my skin at all and they were really kind to my skin.


The smell was not at all off putting, in fact there was hardly any fragrance to the wipes at all. There was a slight smell but it was more of a medicated smell than cucumber and so it did not bother me.


The wipes need to be thrown away after use and they can not be flushed away so you do need to bare that in mind.


The Wipes are so handy to have around and although I do not use them everyday I would be lost without them! Especially when I am having one of my lazy days or am tired after an evening out and just want to wipe my make up off before falling asleep!


I would definitely recommend these wipes and if you are lucky enough to find them on a great deal like I did then even better! I will give these wipes 4 out of 5 and the only reason it is not 5 out of 5 is because they did not remover all traces of eye make up but I can forgive them for that!
