Advantages: Moisturising, non-greasy, cheap

Disadvantages: None

I have to admit that I'm kind of addicted to lip balms. I buy them all the time, use them for a while, then go buy another one. I've never found one that I thought did my lips much good, so I always go out and buy another one to see if it works any better. When I was last in Boots trying to decide which one to try next I came across this Boots own brand one and decided to try it as all the ones I've tried before have been either in stick form or those little tubs, but this one was a tube so I figured it may be different.

The packaging says that this specially formulated cream contains a moisture complex to instantly boost hydration by a third while improving the skin's ability to retain moisture. It should be applied frequently to help keep dry, sore lips soft and smooth. It costs £1.59 for a 10ml tube from Boots stores or their website.

It comes in a small white tube with a domed screw-on lid. If you take the lid off you can see the applicator is also a dome with a hole in the top for the cream to come out of. You just squeeze a bit out of the tube onto the domed part and then presumably you're supposed to apply it with this onto your lips and rub it in, but I prefer to just get a bit onto my finger and apply it that way then kind of pat it onto my lips until it sinks in. Applying it with the domed applicator doesn't really work that well as it just seems to move the cream around on your lips rather than rubbing it in and letting it absorb.

The cream is white and has a consistency that's quite like a lot of moisturisers. It is definitely a cream rather than the greasy or waxy textures of most lip balms. It doesn't have any noticeable smell to it. When you put it on your lips it feels quite cool and nicely refreshing especially if your lips are quite dry. You don't need to use a lot at a time, and if you do use too much it won't sink in properly and you'll end up with white lips which is not a good look. It feels smooth and creamy but not greasy, and after a few seconds of patting it into the skin with a finger it absorbs fully into the skin. It doesn't leave them looking shiny or greasy, they just look perfectly natural.

I loved this from the first time I used it, it makes my lips feel so soft and smooth without any of that nasty coated effect that you get from most lip balms. It sinks into the skin rather than sitting on the top, and so it does a much better job of moisturising the lips, and keeping them moisturised. The feeling it gives my lips lasts much longer than with regular lip balms and I find I don't need to apply it as often.

When I first started using this my lips were in pretty bad shape, they were very dry and flaky and were just starting to get to the 'chapped' stage, but after using this for a few days they were looking so much better. The dry, flaky bits of skin that I had have gone and I'm left with soft smooth looking lips that no longer have that tight feeling they get when they're dry. I'm very impressed and I'll definitely buy this one again.

Summary: The best lip product i've ever used

I never seem to have a problem with dry lips - but I know a man who does! Will pass on your review.
