Advantages: Economical, easy to apply

Disadvantages: No real taste

I've had really dry lips of late. I'm not much of a one for using lip balms etc but when I saw this in Boots and being chocolate flavoured and only costing £2.99 a tin I couldn't resist purchasing it. I felt I really needed a little bit of nourishment for my lips and if it's chocolate that's simply fine with me! lol.

The Packaging....

The product comes in a silver round tin with screw on/off lid to the top of it which has a light brown label on it and on that in black and white writing I'm told it's Boots 'Fresh' Choc-A-Block Lip Balm 'Smother your lips with soothing chocolatey flavoured sweetness all day' and there is a little drawn on picture of a little cartoon man. On the bottom of the tin there is a white sticky, round label on there and I'm told (now in all in black writing) it's size (200g so not small), I'm told it isn't food and to keep out of the reach of children and contact details for Boots are given and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice simple and easy to open tin this is.

The Product.....

The first thing I did notice is how full the tin is! It really is packed with hardish lip balm that is an off white colour, slightly greasy looking and is similar to Vaseline in consistency visibly though it doesn't go to mush through using it or anything and always stays tidy looking in the tin.

So all you do is wipe a fingertip over the balm and a very greasy layer of film transfers off with no lumps and it's not gloopy or sticky or anything like that. Smell wise it has a hint of sweet chocolate which does smell natural, light and fresh but it isn't strong.

All you do is smear it over your lips (which is easy to do) and it applies easily and as it has no colour to it no mirror needed so you can apply on the go if you want to! It goes on cooling, doesn't feel as greasy as I first expected to be and you put on as much or as little as you wish of course.

Taste wise, well it tastes a bit orangy and flowery really and I can't taste indulgent chocolate at all to be honest! The taste is ok but it doesn't last above a few minutes, the glossy sheen created also disappears very quickly, however it does instantly sooth dry, cracked lips and I use it throughout the day when I have problems and I have noticed over-all that my lips are softer and smoother and less prone to flaking.

Overall...

Misses a nice taste but wins out on being economical (due to the small cost of it and amount needed per application). It seems to work very well for me and is very easy and fuss free to use. I like the way it's none sticky and it's also great for putting over or under lipstick as it does smoothen lips nicely.

Only available in Boots stores.

Summary: It's an ok every-day treatment
