Advantages: Great shimmery classy look, Keeps your skin smooth and peel free!, One for the girlies!!!

Disadvantages: expensive, May need a normal aftersun lotion as well

I already had a big bottle of Nivea Aftersun lotion, however, upon reading one of the women’s glossies I became aware that Boots No7 were selling an aftersun lotion which has shimmery bits in it to enhance your tan and add that little bit of umph! I was off on holiday with the girls and we were planning big nights out in the bars and in clubs, it was fair to say there may be call for some glitter or shimmer and what better way then to combine it all in with the aftersun lotion. I was sold anyway and went off to Boots to buy a bottle. Luckily they had the buy one get one free on all Boots sun care products and I got the aftersun and a stronger factor sun lotion for £10.

The cream comes in a 200ml squarish typically Boots No7 lotion bottle with a pump action top. It is actually quite elegant looking as far as sun products go. The product is meant to be used as you would any other aftersun product, you apply it liberally all over the skin, gently massaging it in. It didn’t actually contain any aloe vera like many aftersun lotions, but it does contain allantoin and panthenol to soothe the skin and after a day out in temperatures just over 100 it certainly did the job for me. Indeed I noticed no different in the creams ability to soothe my skin than on the other days when I used my Nivea aftersun. The cream itself is formulated to replenish the moisture lost by the sun and aims to keep it replenished for 12 hours. It ultimately helps your skin fight against and protect itself from the damage caused by UV rays. Further more it prevents peeling and claims to have proretinal in it to restore the suppleness in your skin. I do not doubt that my skin felt soft and did not peel once on holiday, well only a little bit, but that was because I fell asleep in the sun and burnt my forehead! In addition the cream contains a unique antioxidant complex of vitamin c, mulberry extract and ginseng to help protect against premature aging caused by the sun. Vitamins A,
C and E and natural moisturising factors were also present to continuously moisturize. So, as you can see it contains a fair few ingredients which promise a lot, but how did it really perform?

~~How did my skin feel?~~~

My skin felt and smelt lovely. It had a really lightly scented pretty scent to it, yes this cream is most certainly one for the girlies, I don’t think many men would fancy going out all glittered up and sweetly scented, but maybe I am wrong! I used this aftersun on most nights before I went out and my skin felt soft and smooth and as I previously mentioned the only time I did experience any peeling was because I overexposed my forehead with no cream on it at all. Certainly I have no problem with the creams performance as an aftersun lotion. My skin certainly was never sore.

~~How shimmery was it??~~~

I have to admit to being very impressed with this as a shimmer lotion. My friend had a shimmery body lotion from Victoria’s Secrets and I always longed for a bottle of that, however, this gave exactly the same look. I have to admit at times when I see those glitter gels I think they look a bit tacky, ok fun but still tacky. This gave a much more golden and glamorous look which I really liked. The particles were really small and shimmery and so rather than you being aware of any particular areas which were glittery, your whole body just shimmered. This looked really good with a tan, but put it in a nightclub which is dark with lights catching it every now and again and it is amazing. I am just happy that I didn’t use it all up on holiday and I can keep on using at home when I go out. In fact if you are just looking for a shimmery powder which looks funky when out and about in the clubs I would advise buying this, I mean it is a really good moisturiser as well, what more could you want.

~~~Is it really worth paying £10 for?~~~~
Deals that I got aside, usually this would cost £10 a b
ottle. For most people I guess having a regular aftersun is sufficient, however for me, someone that is in to clubs and glamming it up at the weekend I thought It was a fabulous investment and because it has a pump action lid you don’t seem to waste much so it just goes on and on and on. Yes, I did buy this for the gimmick of it being shimmery, but it turned out to be a fabulous aftersun as well which performed just as well as some of the top brand aftersuns.
These were still on offer last week as well on buy one get one free, so if you are off on holiday check them out!
