Advantages: lovely fresh smell, robust packaging
Disadvantages: Far to heavy for the majority of skin types.
Unlike all my other reviews this isn't destined to be a long one!! I am a massive ambassador for the No7 range and have said on a number of occasions that No7 very rarely get it wrong. Sadly, this is one of the times that they have.
No.7's time resisting day cream comes in a small thick plastic pot with a white plastic lid. The overall look is of a very robust container that would most certainly withstand the rigours of 6 months use.
The product retails at £16.50 for a 50 ml jar. Luckily I inherited this jar from my sister as I would've been mighty miffed if I had spent that amount of money on it myself .
Now my skin I would call pretty normal bog standard skin. It's not dry, it's not greasy and it's not combination. It just kind of is really! Sorry for non-descript description there!! So my skin usually suits the majority of moisturisers and I frequently use night cream to keep me soft.
I took the lid off the jar and saw that the contents were an exceptionally thick paste like cream, quite unusual for a day cream I thought. The smell was a pleasant fresh smell that was unobtrusive. I scooped a very small amount out onto my finger and applied to my face and neck. As soon as I had applied the cream it felt exceptionally heavy on my skin, more that of a night cream than a day. The cream was very thick to apply and didn't feel as though it was spreading on my skin smoothly.
My usual routine is to cleanse and apply moisturiser and then dry and straighten my hair prior to applying my make up giving the moisturiser chance to soak in. I was absolutely amazed that some 20 minutes later the cream was still sat on the surface of my skin, despite the small amount used. I actually resorted to wiping off the residue with a cloth as I couldn't wait any longer for it to soak in.
The cream is described as "light" yet I would say it was anything but.
I didn't give up on this first time out but stuck with it for a number of days before conceding defeat after applying smaller and smaller quantities. After 5 days with the product being applied in the mornings only my skin took on a greasy hue and my pores looked clogged. I believe that this product would be suitable for people with very dry skin that needs a moisture boost on an occasional basis but not for regular use.
It is such a shame as No.7 products usually blow the competition away. But with this one I feel No.7 didn't spend long enough with producing a product of their usual calibre. Indeed I have had much better results with 99p Superdrug moisturiser and that is unusual to say the least. A friday afternoon product maybe? Who knows?
Summary: there are a whole number of better No.7 products to spend your money on
