Advantages: Not as expensive as other brands of anti-wrinkle cream and does work

Disadvantages: Still quite pricy and you need to buy a moisturiser as well

Now, I think I have to be the most sceptical person in the world when I hear all the claims about "miracle" skin care creams. I was vaguely aware that Protect and Perfect had been shown to work in scientific trials, and that there had been chaos in some Boots stores with people trying to buy it.

It wasn't until a couple of months ago that I got round to trying it, though. There was a special offer on which meant I got a free gift bag as well, so I figured it wasn't bad value. The product on its own is £16.75 for a 30ml tube, so although it's expensive, it isn't as costly as some of the other "wonder creams". The cream comes in a squeezy tube, so it is easy to get all the last bits out, and the small size fits easily in a make up bag.

I thought at first that Protect and Perfect was a moisturiser, but it isn't. It's a serum that you put on under whatever moisturiser you normally wear. This means that you need a smaller amount, so 30ml actually lasts quite a long time (about 2 months for me). This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though, as it means that you can put a tinted moisturiser or foundation over the top without your skin feeling greasy. It is a little more expensive, though, as you need to buy two products rather than just one.

The serum feels strange when you put it on - it looks pearlescent out of the tube, but it soaks in quickly and then your skin feels silky. It isn't enough on its own - you definitely need a moisturiser as well.

As I've been getting older, I've been getting some little lines around my eyes, and on my forehead. There was no instant difference, but after a month or so, I think that these have lessened slightly, especially the lines around my eyes. It isn't a dramatic difference but it is enough for me to want to continue using Protect and Perfect. I haven't used any other "posh" anti-wrinkle creams though, so I can't say whether it is better or worse than other premium brands. It is cheaper than most though.

Summary: If you have fine lines, this can help to lessen them.
