Advantages: Really does work, softens and tones skin.

Disadvantages: Can be expensive

Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum is probably one of No 7's most famous products. It shot to fame in 2007 after the BBC's Horizon investigated the claims made by anti-ageing products such as this.

The show studied various creams and serums, amazingly they found that No 7's beauty serum actually works! It reduces the signs of aging caused by sun damage!

This revelation ended up with a 2000% increase in sales and an average of 13 bottles being sold every minute! It took weeks for Boots to manage to keep up with the demand for this miracle product. It is still an extremely popular product today and they regularly seem to run out at my local Boots.

I started using the serum around 3 years ago, I have never bought a bottle but I have never run out.
No, I don't have a very generous other half, I am addicted to No 7's goody bags. I buy a lot of No 7 products and whenever they have a new goody bag out (every month or two) I always have to have one. They give a pretty bag full of No 7 products away when you spend over a certain amount (usually around £16) on their products.

They always include a mini tube of this serum, usually a 5ml trial size. Doesn't sound a lot but it lasts for ages. You should only use a tiny amount of cream each time, about the size of a 5 pence piece I think.

The difference between a serum and a cream is that the particles in a serum are so much smaller than in a cream. This makes it a lot easier for the vital ingredients to sink in to your skin and get to work, making serums a lot more effective.

You can tell that this is the case when applying this serum. Most moisturisers take a good few minutes to properly sink in to the skin, while this is completely gone within around a minute.

The serum itself has a very soft consistency and is a very pale, almost transparent white colour. It blends in to the skin very easily and makes the skin feel extremely soft.

As the serum is so light you can't really tell that it is there when you apply it. Some creams are quite heavy and you can tell that it is on your face but this is not the case with this product, it doesn't make your skin feel 'tacky' either, just quite soft and velvety.

Once the serum has sunk in, your skin retains this soft and silky feeling.
No 7 recommends that you apply this after cleansing and toning then apply your moisturiser afterwards but sometimes I don't bother as it really seems to moisturise your skin anyway and is a perfect base for make up.

I can't really say about the anti ageing effects as I am only 24 so it is a preventative measure rather than a treatment, although as I said earlier it has been extensively tested and has proven to be quite successful in these trials.

The serum is available in a 30ml bottle for £18.50 or a 200ml (years supply) for £96.60. This is a lot to fork out but it works out at £1.85 a week so is actually very good value.

Overall, I woul highly recommend this product as it instantly softens and tones your skin. My skin does feel more radiant after use, and tests have proven that it does actually work!

There are thousands of products to claim to fight the signs of ageing but this is the only one that I know of that is widely available and has actually proved these claims.

So, if you are in the market for an anti ageing formula, try this one as it is more likely to work than other brands.

Summary: It is proven to work so is your best bet when fighting the signs of ageing

I seem to be one of the few people who didn't like this - it did nothing for me at all!
