Advantages: Leaves skin really soft, works well, only need a little so it lasts long time
Disadvantages: Can feel a little uncomfortable, more expensive than some exfoliators
I first came across this product as part of a set of sample products I got free when I spent over a certain amount on Boots No7 products at Boots. It is Boots No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator. It is an exfoliator for your face which is designed to give you fresh, clearer and younger looking skin. It is said to work to even out fine lines and skin tone and leave your skin softer.
The product states that it is hypo-allergenic and dermatologically tested. It can be found for sale only in boots stores or online at boots.com and costs £10.30 for a 75ml tube.
The exfoliator contains aluminium-oxide micro-crystals which "smooth, refine and renew" the skin and will sweep away the dead dull skin cells.
The exfoliator is a white fairly thick cream inside which is hidden the little exfoliating particles. It doesn't really have much of a scent to it. I have found that you only need a little of this product as it goes a long way. When you massage it into your skin (dampen your skin first with water) I find the cream vanishes quite quickly and then you can see the little exfoliating particles which look like salt. It is a bit uncomfortable when you are massaging it into your skin, although they are small they are quite harsh. You should massage them into your skin for about a minute before rinsing. Although they feel harsh you can really feel that it is working and taking away the dead skin cells. When I rinse it off my skin, my skin looks a little red but it doesn't feel sore at all.
My skin feels amazingly soft and smooth after using it. It really does work and better than any other exfoliator I have used. I try to use this product once or twice a week to remove the dead skin and keep my skin feeling soft and smooth. Boots state that you shouldn't use it more than twice a week I think this is because it is quite an intensive product and could be a bit too harsh for your skin to use more regularly. I think it is important to exfoliate because it gets rid of the dead skin cells and allows the other products you use like moisturiser to get into the skin rather than sitting on the surface of the dead skin. After using it I always apply some moisturiser afterwards.
Even although the exfoliator is quite expensive the fact that you use so little of it at a time means that it lasts for ages. I have had my tube for quite some time and still havent finished it. However when I do finish it I will certainly go out and buy some more.
I love this exfoliator and would recommend you give it a try to give you amazingly soft and smooth skin.
Summary: A microderm abrasion facial exfoliator from Boots that really works leaving skin feeling soft

- 11/03/09 I never really thought about exfoliating my skin until now! I moisturize daily but I guess it really would not work as well if I am just moisturizing dead skin. |

- 10/03/09 I always struggle with exfoliators - they seem to dry my face out terribly. |
