Advantages: Removes old dead cells and makes skin look younger
Disadvantages: Can only be used once or twice a week
Total Renewal, what a thought a new body! Afraid not, but do you get new skin when you use the Total Renewal Micro-dermabrasion exfoliator. This was one of the goodies in my lovely box of Number 7 products I received at Christmas from my daughter, but I wasn't sure of how to use it as Boots hadn't enclosed instructions and the tube said "Read leaflet carefully before using"!
So after reading some reviews I decided it wasn't rocket science and I could do exactly what I do with Boots No7 other exfoliators. So damp face, a squeeze of the product onto my finger and away I go. It is white and really creamy with barely any fragrance, I thought this isn't going to work wonders, but as soon as I started massaging it onto my face I was aware of really fine particles, finer than even sand, but they work, they really worked! I massaged for about a minute on my face and neck and then went into the shower so rinsed it off with running water. My face felt really soft, although I was a bit red when the mirror cleared of steam, but it soon died down and I had a nice blush to my skin which looked healthy. I put on moisturising cream as normal and my face seemed to soak it up quickly, but even ten hours later my skin feels incredibly soft, and that is good for someone my age! On the Boots site is does say not to use for more than 2 minutes, so care must be taken. The ingredients include aluminium-oxide crystals which sweep away dull cells for incredible radiance from the first time you use it.
True or False? Boots claims that it will give you instantly fresher, clearer, younger looking skin. True for me, although my skin is now reasonably good, it looked even better.
True or False? Within 4 treatments this product visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone and helps work against the appearance of dark areas. Afraid I haven't been using it long enough yet, and I did read that you should only use it twice a week, so I'll update this later.
The price is £13.74 for 100ml, quite expensive but you only need a little to cover your face so it will last a long time. Sometimes you can get a tube in one of the goodie bags from Boots when you spend £15, so although this is only a 25ml tube it is a great gift. The tube is a creamy pearlised plastic with black and gold writing, it looks smart and nice to have on show in the bathroom.
Verdict? An excellent exfoliator, it does really make your skin look fresher and instantly look a lot better. By removing dead cells your skin looks better is is ready to absorb cream when you apply it. Total renewal? My face yes, I see they do a product for the body, I wonder if that will a miracle cure for my body!
Summary: Very fine exfoliator

- 07/12/09 I used it as well I really liked it because it did a proper exfoliating job whereas my current Boots exfoliator (the cheaper one) does nothing. I now want to buy this Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator again. |
