Advantages: Cheap, helps clear spots
Disadvantages: Leaves skin dry and red
If you haven't already noticed I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to cosmetic or toiletry items. We recently moved house and whilst packing up all our belongings I came across a bottle of Boots Skin Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion - which had about three quarters left. I decided to give it another try, but unfortunately soon found the reason I had stopped using it in the first place.
~~Packaging~~
This is part of Boots own range and comes in a purple clear plastic bottle with a matching purple lid. The lid has a screw top which can also flip open to limit the flow of the liquid coming out. It is important to note that the design of this bottle may have changed by now as the bottle has been stored in my bathroom for many months now!
The packaging claim that the cleanser fights against and clears blackheads, whilst soothing sensitive skin to leave you with glowing and healthy skin. I guess this is what attracted me to it in the first place as anything which claims to help sensitive skin I am willing to try!
All additional information that you might need including a full list of all the ingredients and the application process is highlighted on the back of the bottle.
~~The Product~~
The first thing I noticed upon opening this product is the very overpowering smell of Tea Tree Oil. Whilst this is considered to be a good ingredient for such a product to contain I personally hate the smell if it and don't want to have a constant waft of it throughout the day. So for me personally we were already off to a bad start with this product, however I was willing to continue trying and see what the outcome would be.
The cleanser claims to be hard hitting on spots and bacteria, I did notice after several uses that any spots I did have had reduced - however I have never suffered hugely from spots or acne so this wasn't a major problem.
The one major problem I had with this cleanser is the moisture it took out of my skin. It claims to be suitable for sensitive skin, however my skin was left very dry after using this over a week long period. I had to apply a vast amount of moisturiser in order to prevent the tightness across my face. I definitely don't think it is suitable for those with really sensitive skin.
I found my face was very red and blotchy alongside the dryness - obviously my skin did not react well to this new product. I guess this goes some way to explain why I had originally stopped using this product.
~~Price & Availability~~
Checking the Boots website I have found that it is currently available at £2.49 for a 200ml bottle - however as always look out for special offers. Obviously being a Boots range it is only available in Boots.
Thank you for reading!
Summary: Not for me im afraid!
