Advantages: very effective, gently on skin
Disadvantages: a little too oily
I was browsing Boots recently in search of a new make-up remover when I came across the Skin Kindly range. I?ve known about the products for some time but never actually tried any of them before. I noticed that the products were on 3 for 2 so thought I?d see if they had anything that I needed to try! The Skin Kindly Range has been around for some time now, the products all used to come in white packaging with black writing but Boots have recently modernised them and given the whole range a make-over. The packaging is now blue/lilac with white writing, a far better look in my opinion. The products are designed specifically for sensitive skin. They are lanolin, fragrance and soap free, hypo-allergenic and dermatologically tested. The range is similar to Simple. The products are designed to be gentle so even sensitive skins can use them yet still effective. The range includes all the products you would expect to find in a skincare range cleansers, moisturisers, wipes and one of the products I purchased; Skin Kindly gentle eye make-up removal pads. The pads come in a pot with a twist off lid. The label on the front states the name of the product and says ?with aloe vera?. They claim that the pads gently remove all traces of eye make-up including waterproof. They contain a blend of light oils which help soften the skin surrounding the eye. I thought these sounded perfect for me because I hate the feeling of having to rub my eye trying to get rid of make-up and as I always wear waterproof mascara (I cry at anything!) they were ideal. I don?t very often wear foundation and tend just to stick to eye make-up and a slick of lipgloss so I only really need eye make-up remover. I use wipes on the occasions when I do wear foundation and I feel wasteful using a wipe everyday just for eye make-up. I wou
ld normally choose a liquid eye make-up remover because it?s more economical but these pads seemed the perfect solution for the times when I?m feeling lazy! There?s a peel back label on the bottom of the pot which predictably has an ingredients list on it but it also says ?this jar is of double-walled construction? I found this quite bizarre, why on earth have they written that on it?! If anyone can enlighten me on why they put this I?d be interested to know as it seems like a fairly random thing to write! Anyway back to the product. True to their claims the pads are completely fragrance-free. They are very thin but also very strong, there?s absolutely no chance of one falling apart I can assure you. I found that for something so small (I?d guess they have a 5cm diameter) they are very oily. This is not a bad thing though. In fact I found that it was really easy to remove my mascara despite the fact that it was waterproof. I applied relatively little pressure but it still removed the make-up. The oils certainly softened the area around my eye and this is why their oiliness is so good! It helps to remove make-up effortlessly and stops dragging the skin as well as softening the surrounding eye area. The excess oil can easily be removed with a quick wipe of a tissue too if there is any. After using them my skin does feel thoroughly cleansed without the drying feeling that some liquid make-up removers can leave. I feel that I made a good investment in these wipes. I thought initially that I would only use them after a night out or when I was short of time but I?ve found I want to use them everyday now, they really are very effective and so quick to use! At £2.99 for 60 pads I think they?re pretty reasonable for just 5p each. Especially if you buy them while the range is on 3 for 2 like I did. I brought 2 pots of the pa
ds and then got another product from the range called Gentle Rich Moisturiser free. I?m yet to try that product yet though. Overall I?m very impressed with these and I don?t think I can fault them. If you can?t stand the idea of anything oily then steer clear but the oils do work very effectively so if you don?t mind them then I would definitely recommend these. Thanks for reading! ☺
