Advantages: Works well, helpf get rid of spots, moisturises, kind to skin
Disadvantages: None
Boots Tea Tree + Witch Hazel Night Treatment Gel is a non-greasy gel which works while you sleep to help fight spots. It's available in Boots stores or on their website and costs £2.79 for a 75ml tube.
Boots say this non-greasy night treatment gel contains antibacterial Tea Tree Oil and skin calming Witch Hazel which help keep your skin clear and healthy. It works intensively while you sleep to fight spot causing bacteria and lightly moisturise the skin without blocking your pores.
To use it you just need to smooth it onto your skin with clean fingers and blend in. For best results it should be used every evening after cleansing.
The gel is quite runny, not like most gels I've come across which are generally thicker in consistency. It comes in a plastic tube with a flip-top lid but the hole it comes out of is quite large, so it can sometimes be difficult not to get too much out because of the consistency of the gel.
The gel goes on smoothly and easily and it feels nice and cooling on the skin. I've used gels before that basically leave a layer on the skin which you then have to wait for it to dry and then wash it off in the morning. This one is not like that, it absorbs quickly into the skin like a moisturiser and doesn't leave any residue on the skin. The skin feels really smooth after you apply it. It doesn't smell too strong, I just get a slight whiff of tea tree every now and again from it but it's not a strong scent at all.
I originally bought this for myself, as despite me being the wrong side of 50 I still have combination skin and get breakouts every now and again. I found that it worked very well for me and it seems to help get rid of breakouts quicker than if I just leave my skin alone and wait for them to go of their own accord. I also find it keeps my skin nicely moisturised rather than drying it out like most spot treatment products do.
I now also buy this for my youngest daughter. She's only 11 but hit puberty early and has been suffering from greasy, spotty skin for a couple of years now. As she's still so young I don't want to use anything that might be harsh on her skin, so this seemed perfect. She applies it to her face every night before bed and it does seem to make a difference to her skin. After using it regularly for a while she is getting less spots and the ones she has seem to go down quicker and don't get as big or red as they used to. I would never expect something like this to cure her spots altogether, particularly as they're mainly down to hormones, so this does as good a job as I could expect from anything without having to resort to harsher products which might damage her delicate skin. And it also leaves her skin smooth and moisturised, which I've never known any other spot treatment to do, so I'm very impressed.
Recommended!
Summary: A really nice night treatment gel which isn't harsh to the skin

- 31/03/08 I always use the cleanser in this range but I haven't tried this yet. I think I will now as I am another 50 something who still gets teenage spots! Susan |
