Advantages: Very quick at getting off dirt and make-up, Skin was clean, soothed and refreshed
Disadvantages: Made my eyes very sore indeed, despite following their instructions!, Not the cheapest wipes on the market
The beauty market has been flooded with quick clean facial wipes over the past 18 months, as we all lead increasingly busy lives and seek quick solutions in our beauty regimes. The quickness of facial wipes is certainly the greatest appeal to me and I have experimented with numerous brands, some successfully and some not so successfully. I have also become a great fan of the Boots Botanics range in general and so when I came across their wipes I was eager to try them. Here is what I found: ~~~Boots Botanics - The philosophy~~~ The Boots Botanics range works on the philosophy that plants, if used in right measure, can provide great beauty and health benefits. So, the people behind Boots Botanics have carefully formulised all the products they make to achieve the best results for the purpose which they are intended. The Boots Botanics range is now quite large and there are some wonderful products on offer for the hair, body and face. In particular I love their body care products, such as the shower gels, body exfoliators and body washes. However, I have recently bought a number of items from their new make-up range and there have not been any adverse effects to them yet! ~~~The Facial wipes~~~ The wipes cost about £3.65 and come in a yellowish colour packet which contains around 30 wipes. To use you peel open a top pocket which is resealable and then you remove wipes as required and then reseal. You then gently wipe the cloth over the face and eyes, whilst keeping the eyes closed and simply throw them away when finished. They are not flushable though, so must be placed in a bin. The Boots Botanics Products have all been formulated with sensitive skin in mind and so should be suitable for most skin types. Botanics Quick Fix Wipes claim to offer a deep clean that removes all traces of make-up without drying the skin. It does this using camomile and Indian Pennywort which calm the skin using it soft and sm
ooth. So, do the wipes fulfil all they promise to?? *Quick Clean?? The wipes are definitely a much quicker option than getting out the cotton wool and cleanser, as I had done for many years, but then I already knew this as I was already a convert to wipes. I would say all dirt and make-up was removed in about a minute. This is great for those nights when you go out, drink far too much and then get home and the last thing you feel like doing is removing your make-up. So, you wake up the next day with black eyes and the odd spot rearing its head. Since using wipes in general I have definitely decreased the number of nights that I have slept in my make-up. This is a definite bonus. It is also great when you go on holiday or away to friends as you don't have to take all the bulky bottles with you, they are a lot lighter in the luggage! Quick definitely, but just how effective are they???? *Clean skin? The wipes swept across my skin easy enough and there was definitely a lot of grime on the cloth when I looked at it. I only needed to use one cloth which was a bonus as some other brands I have tried have required me to use 2 a time to ensure my skin is totally clean, obviously making them very economical. This means that I could get away with buying two packets roughly a month, as I use them at night and in the mornings. This is more economical than using four obviously. However, the big downside I discovered was that despite keeping my eyes firmly shut they stung a little after wiping my face. This is important to me, as I hate it when my eyes hurt and have little tolerance of it. I have discovered other facial wipes which have cleaned and not irritated my eyes, and ones that were cheaper, so immediately I was not very impressed. Definitely the wipes were able to clean my skin and quite well. All grime and make-up, including my mascara was gone. However, the irritated eyes were not appreciated
. *Soothed skin?? I wasn't feeling too soothed in general as my eyes stung for well over an hour. However, my skin didn't feel too bad and it did feel quite smooth, it must be the camomile! There were no dry patches and so I was pleased they were not too harsh on the skin, as the Oil of Olay ones had been (warning!). *Refreshed Skin?? My skin actually felt clean and definitely better for having the days dirt and grime removed, however, the stinging eyes were still bothering me and so how my skin felt was not my greatest priority. *Any adverse reactions?? Well, obviously sore eyes were a problem, as I have mentioned a few times! However, in the couple of weeks that I tried these I did not experience any other problems. My skin can be prone to break outs and especially when I am using the wrong products, however my skin was normal and spot free. The wipes also kept the moisture balance fine on my skin and it wasn't too dry or top moist, my regular moisturiser was fine to use. ~~Concluding thoughts and feelings~~~ The wipes had the potential to be economical and very easy to use. They had the potential to be better than other wipes I had used, such as Oil of Olay, Boots Own, Nivea and Simple. However, after two weeks using them I threw mine away and went back to my favourite wipes (more later). I found the way it made my eyes feel unbearable and that generally they may be a little harsh for my skin upsetting the balance. I haven't heard anyone else having such problems with these wipes, but it definitely was a big problem for me and I am sure I am not alone in this. I was suprised as I use a lot of the Boots Botanics range on a daily basis, but this product just didn't agree with me and I advise anyone with sensitive eyes to avoid. I have instead found the best wipes on the market, they are the most gentle and cheapest suprisingly! If you have a Wilkinson's
near to your home (they are not nationwide, but cover the Midlands and some of the southern counties) they do an own brand wipe which is amazing and I have now stocked up on those. Very highly recommended unlike the Boots Botanics Wipes which I was very disappointed with.
