Advantages: Excellent Results, Excellent Build Quality, Great Battery

Disadvantages: None.

If you were to ask someone what you can buy for just over one hundred and fifty pounds these days. You might expect them to say a games console, a CD mini system, a brilliant mobile phone or some other social status raising item. Would you expect them to say an electric shaver. Personally I would be surprised to hear such a response, but nevertheless when getting this item and writing this review, the cost of this shaver was £161.98.

This is the Braun Series 7 790cc Clean & Renew System Electric Rechargeable Foil Shaver (don't try and say that while your shaving.) This is perhaps the most expensive electric razor money can buy. It was definitely the most costly one I could find on Amazon.co.uk. So the real question is it worth a triple figure sum of cash.

Well, products features are vast, but most noticeably include a Sensoflex dynamic shaving head (which reacts to changes in the skins surface), a 3-stage cutting system to shave closer, a Clean & Renew charging stand, Smart Foils which cuts any hairs that are growing in different directions, an Interactive LCD panel and an extendable trimmer for moustache and sideburns.

There is no doubt that Braun make some brilliant shavers. And this is definitely one of them. I've had great and immediate results. This is nothing less than a revolution in terms of shaving.

As you would expect with the price tag, build quality is excellent, this razor feels like it would survive anything that could possibly happen to it. The design is excellent, well thought out and implemented to give maximum performance and comfort. The foils are brilliant, and cut close and effortlessly. They are also quite cheap to replace (pack of 3 for £9.99 in Argos). The foils combined with the actual shape of the shaver seems to shape itself around your face, allowing you to easily remove those problem areas. The battery is excellent. A one hour charge gives you nearly fifty minutes of usage (just for comparison I have another shaver, that takes two hours to charge and only gives you an hour of usage.) The LCD shows you amount of power remaining and the status of the foils. If the battery has died, you can also run it directly from the mains, while you charge. The Clean and Renew stand is a brilliant addition. The shaver is cleaned and charged at the same time while also keeping the blades in better and more hygienic condition (the blade can also be washed directly under the tap.) The shaver itself is very easy and comfy to use. It's solid, but still light in weight, so it won't be a problem to use for a prolonged period of time.

This is not an object you would want hidden away somewhere, you would want it on display for all to see and admire. They say an electric shave with never be as close as a wet shave, but in this case, it is very close indeed. Combined with the time saving element means this razor will come out on top.

If you are new to electric shaving it will undoubtedly take you some time to get used to both the noise and the sensation. Depending in your skin, you might even get a rash (I know I did) but it quickly settled down as my skin adjusted (washing your face might help to start with.) As expected with a sonic shaver, the noise is rather loud, but you will quickly get used to it, and to be honest it's considerably quieter than some I've used in the past.

I've used several electric razors in the past ranging in price from forty pounds to nearly one hundred pounds. To be honest they've came across as average at best. After the excitement of getting a new gadget has passed they soon found their way onto the bathroom shelf to gather dust while I revert back to a wet shave. But in the case of this 790cc, that won't happen. Why? simply because it's as perfect as a razor can get.

I am by no means a perfectionist when it comes to shaving, but this razor does makes things quicker, easier and neater.

So, yes it is expensive but you really get what you pay for. It is worth it - definitely. The advanced features and technology make that tiresome and repetitive task of shaving a bit less tedious.
