Original Carmex lipbalm has been a hot product on beauty editors and make-up artists lists for as long as I can remember - I mean this in all honesty - I remember well J17 magazine used to rave about the balm pretty much every issue. Now Carmex has added a new product to their range, Carmex cherry. All the same benefits of the original balm with a cherry scent added. The packaging is very similar to the original balm, the difference mainly being the picture of two cherries on it. It still comes in the cult classic yellow and white pot with the simple understated writing and so feels like an old friend in your make-up bag. Though it is nice when companies ... I often have dry lips, even in the summer, so I don't like to be without some form of lip balm wherever I am. I first bought Carmex a couple of months ago as the tube looked like a nice size for my bag, and I was very pleased with the condition of my lips when I used it. I don't like the taste of the original Carmex very much so when I spotted a cherry one in Superdrug a couple of weeks ago, I was quite excited and decided to give it a try! My cherry Carmex tells me that it's new, which may be why I've only noticed it in the shops recently, (or I may just have been walking around with my eyes shut). I bought a tube of cherry Carmex, ... When I was in London recently I'd forgotten to take any lip balm with me and as it was a really hot day my lips were getting really dry and cracked. I religiously apply lip balm to my lips and I feel really uncomfortable without it so I popped into Boots and I bought the cherry flavoured Carmex as I'd remembered reading a review about it. It comes in a little 7.5g metal jar with a screw on lid and this is packaged in a blister pack. The cardboard part of the packaging has loads of information about the product and it is bright yellow, with a large picture of a cherry on it, so it's very eye catching and easy to spot amongst all the other lip balms on sale. ... Carmex lip balm, in my opinion is a little miracle worker! It is a must have when you have a cold, or if your lips are chapped. It also makes a nice gloss over lipstick if you are so inclined (or even an undercoat!)! Carmex contains menthol (which gives that fresh tingling sensation). Menthol is derived from peppermint oil and kills germs and can also relieve discomfort. Active ingredients in peppermint oil are a well known to help with many skin problems, along with Phenol. It also contains camphor which is mild local anesthetics which helps aliviate the pain associated with cold sores. It also contains salicylic acid to get rid of the old dead skin ... I once vowed never to write a review on lip balm, or in fact any other overly girly product listed in the 'Fashion & Beauty' category. But times have obviously changed, and my feminine side must be taking over, considering that i've now produced at least three lip balm write-up's, and even a review of the dreaded Lush... the shame! Whilst in Boots today, I couldn't help notice the brightly coloured packaging of 'Carmex Cherry Flavoured Lip Balm', which appeared a lot more inviting than the dull, pastel shades of the Vasaline and Nivea products which it shared a shelf with. Although seemingly marketed at the good lady-folk, I really couldn't resist the lure ... Read the complete review
