Advantages: Leaves lips soft and moisturised
Disadvantages: *
I often have dry lips, even in the summer, so I don't like to be without some form of lip balm wherever I am.
I first bought Carmex a couple of months ago as the tube looked like a nice size for my bag, and I was very pleased with the condition of my lips when I used it. I don't like the taste of the original Carmex very much so when I spotted a cherry one in Superdrug a couple of weeks ago, I was quite excited and decided to give it a try!
My cherry Carmex tells me that it's new, which may be why I've only noticed it in the shops recently, (or I may just have been walking around with my eyes shut).
I bought a tube of cherry Carmex, which is the same size as the original one and this holds 10g. I use it quite a lot so my tube is getting quite empty. When I went back to Superdrug (a different branch) to buy some more they only had a small pot of the cherry variety and a tube of the original so I decided to buy the pot. The pot is the same price as the tube (£2.44 from Superdrug) but the pot only contains 7.5g so you get a little bit less Carmex. The pot comes with a screw on lid and is slightly bulkier than the tube. I think the pot of cherry Carmex seems to be more easily available than the tube (at least in the shops I go to) as I've not seen another tube of Cherry since I bought the first one.
Both the tube and the pot are yellow with a picture of a pair of cherries on and is easily to spot on a shelf in shops.
~ Using Cherry Carmex ~
The tube tells me to 'apply liberally and evenly as often as necessary.' I've found that it's easy to apply and it lasts a while longer than other lip balms I've used. When first applied it makes my lips tingle a little bit, which was slightly strange at first but it's now something I really like about Carmex as it seems to make my lips feel more moisturised.
The lip balm definitely smells like cherry and I think there's a hint of cherry in the taste but in my opinion it's more of a fruity taste than actually cherry. I think it tastes really nice on my lips (unless I actually lick it - it's not nice on my tongue!) and the taste lingers (as well as the smell) for quite a while. It smells of cherry in the pot/tube but I think it just smells fruity on my lips.
The lip balm leaves lips looking shiny, as if wearing clear lip gloss which is another reason I like using it. I sometimes wear it as a product on its own or I sometimes use it as a base for lip gloss. I find when used with lip gloss, I don't need to apply as much lip gloss as I normally would, as my lips are already glossy the gloss just adds a bit of colour. If my lips are looking a bit pale though and I just apply Carmex, they get a bit more colour to them as it looks like the blood moves to the surface more, it doesn't look like lip gloss or lip stick though, it just makes my lips more naturally pink.
I put some Carmex on my lips before going to sleep at nights and it keeps my lips feeling soft and moisturised.
Cherry Carmex also has an SPF 15 which is something I usually look out for when buying lip balms.
Carmex state that 'It soothes. It relieves. It moisturises' and I agree that is successfully does all three of these. I think it's suitable for both men and women too.
Carmex is manufactured by: Carma Laboratories, USA and is available in shops such as Superdrug (£2.44) and Boots (£2.48). Both the pot and the tube fit easily into my bag although the tube is easier for carrying around. I certainly be buying more cherry Carmex (and hopefully I'll find a tube rather than another pot.)
Thanks for reading!
Summary: Excellent lip balm
