Advantages: Soothing, moisturizing, long lasting

Disadvantages: None that I can think of

The Tube
The tube is all yellow with a red screw lid. It's small in size and fits in the palm of your hand. The front of the tube has the name of the product written in white with trade name reg written in black. This writing has a red rectangular background with black edging along the left edge and bottom to make it look 3d. On the right hand side in the middle of the tube dry chapped lips is written in red and repeated below in French. On the left hand side in the middle of the tube is some black stripes with for pour written diagonally in black. On the bottom of the front is lip balm written in red and again repeated in French. Just below this is the weight which is written in black and is 0.35oz. or 10g. On the back there is some small writing at the top in black which says keep out of reach of children and directions for use, which is then repeated in French. Along the right side of the back of the tube there is the Carma Laboratories address, this is in black and vertical. Underneath this is the ingredients list which includes petrolatum, lanolin, theboroma oil, mineral oil, menthol, camphor, salicylic acid, vanillin, fragrance in a wax base. Underneath this is the barcode.

My Opinion
I wanted to try the tube version of carmex as I did have some trouble with the tub, but was worried the product wouldn't be the same. I checked the ingredients as I thought since it's in the tube will they have changed them and they had. Once I opened the lid though I soon discovered I had nothing to worry about it was pretty much the same. The balm came out easily and was of a thick, smooth consistency and was the same yellow opaque colour as the tub. The smell was the same as the tub too which is a menthol smell with a hint of vanilla, I like the smell but I can see some people not being that keen if they don't like strong smells. As I put the balm on my lips it started to tingle, it also glides on smoothly and isn't too thick. Once the tingling stops it soothes my dry lips and makes them feel fresh again. You do still feel like you have the product on and it takes a while to sink in which I like. I don't have to keep reapplying it, which is good in the winter months. I would defiantly recommend this product, this has to be my favourite lip balm and I always have a tube on hand. The tube lasts me a good three months, which is great as I fine some lip balms only last a couple of weeks as you have to keep reapplying them.

The Product
The Carmex tube is available in most good beauty shops, chemists, supermarkets and online. It is priced around £1.99 from www.amazon.co.uk but you would have to pay postage and packaging unless you were buying other things to total it up to £15.00. The best in store price was ASDA at £2.42.

I have previously written this review on www.ciao.co.uk under the same username.

Summary: A tingly lip balm which your lips will thank you for.

There's a fair amount of info here, but I do have to agree somewhat with plipplop: the first para would benefit from being about half as long - does anyone really mind what colour every piece of writing is in, unless that makes it unreadable?

I'm afraid I lost the will to live half way through paragraph one - why do you think such an exhaustive description is useful?

Blimey the colour of the tube makes it look like it could be preparation H or something like that!
