Christy Cosmetics Face Mask: Wild Peach and Cranberry

This was the second face mask I received for Christmas, and it’s one I’ve used before, but had forgotten about. When I originally bought it, it was the description that caught my eye – wild peach and cranberry, the best of summer and winter combined. But would it give me skin like a fresh spring daisy?

The mask comes in a quite large sachet and contains enough mask for even those who have, shall we say, larger faces than normal. I’m pretty small, though, so I even had some left over, although you can’t use it again, say, the next day, as it will dry out which is a bit of a pain.

It’s a self-heating exfoliating mask and thus combines two of the features I like in slap ‘em on and let ‘em dry products – it warms your skin and sucks out the toxins, and also scratches away (in the nicest possible way) all the dead surface skin cells. It’s a combined mask and facial scrub in a way, and it’s really nice.

What I liked
***********

· It was just as I remembered, and just as I’d expected – lovely and warm on my skin, like when you stick your head in the oven (to check something, not to kill yourself a la Phoebe’s mother), and with a nice gritty, sandy texture that makes you feel like it really is working

· It left my skin clear and radiant, but not too red like the mask I tried before, meaning you can leave the house two seconds after washing it off and not get any funny looks. Unless you have dried bits in your hair of course.

· It smells lovely and, well, healthy. The scent is a fruity one but isn’t overpowering and in your face. Even if my body’s not getting the benefits of fruit, at least my skin is.

· The mask doesn’t dry, so you can continue to talk and laugh while it’s on, without cracking it. This also makes it
easier to wash off.

· You can leave it on for 5 to 15 minutes
, so if you’re in a rush you can mask and go, but if you have the time you can relax for a bit longer. Both give the same result.

· The effects lasted a good 4 days before my skin went back to “normal”. Use it as recommended twice a week and you’ll keep the glow constantly.

What I didn’t like
****************

· The mask is a very pale colour. This wasn’t a problem for me since I have darkish olive skin, but if you’re a typical English rose you might have problems seeing where you’ve already applied it

· You are supposed to apply it to WET skin with DRY hands. Now to wet my skin I usually end up with wet hands too, and in the time it takes to dry them, your skin naturally starts to get a bit dryer too. I’ve no way around this but it was a bit of a pain.

· For once the packaging was a bit tricky to open. Maybe I just got a dud sachet, but I had to go and find some scissors because it was just refusing to rip open.

Buy it from Tescos and Boots at full price (99p), or cheaper at discount drug stores if you have them near you. Despite the disadvantages this remains one of my favourite masks, and I’ll be using it again.

Mmm, that sounds wonderful. I've just bought Origins White Clay face mask but I'm a sucker for a nice smell, and peach & cranberry sound gorgeous. I'll have to try this!
