Advantages: it does work
Disadvantages: a little dry skin after
I have been trying several different cleansers of late, having erupted in horrendous skin! I put this down to too much chocolate and the stress of the credit crunch and job hunting! My trips to Tesco and Boots have been kept busy with me in the cosmetic aisle looking for cheap yet effective face washes and treatments. I take great pride in looking after my skin especially on the face so a cleaning routine is very important to me.
This is one of the cleansers which I tried recently. Made by Johnson who are a reliable and trustworthy brand, I picked this up from Tesco.
Packaging:
It comes in a plastic bottle with a flip top lid. The lid is a bit flimsy and should really be screw top, as mine leaked a little round the edges, so it loses points here.
How To Use:
My advice is to wash the face first with warm water to remove the worst of dirt and make up. I tend to use a light facial wash from Lush, as their ingredients are all natural and are usually quite soothing. Once the face is washed, you can dab a bit of this onto a cotton wool pad and work it over the face and neck in gentle upward motions. It does do a good job at picking up extra grime, as the pad showed me afterwards. I was actually quite surprised at the amount of skin dirt that can be collected from using a cleanser. It is best to use this twice a day, morning and night to get the best results.
So is it a cleanser or a toner or both? The boundaries are a bit vague and different people have different ideas about what order you should do things in the bathroom. The basic rule is cleanse, tone and moisturise. I found this product acts best as an 'after cleanser 'to pick up what a general wash does not pick up.
Results:
Skin was definitely clean feeling, though it did leave me with a slight tightness, which was annoying. I found Simple to be better in this department and less aggressive on the skin. Over a period of time the product does keep the skin in check and helps unclog pores and remove dirt, so it works, but I have had better results with other brands. It will cost you about two pounds for a bottle and should last you a good month if you use it every day.
Also Try:
Simple do a great set of cleansers and toners which are a little more soothing for the skin, they are also priced fairly. Lush do some great natural products but you will pay a few pounds extra.
Who Is This Product Suitable For:
Teens will benefit as it does help keep troublesome spots at bay, but adults might also find it useful as an emergency product for the odd bad skin outbreak.
Advice:
Use a cotton pad to get best results and ensure that you don't wipe the dirty pad over clean areas of skin too much or you will end up transferring the dirt to other areas of the face. Make sure that you do the neck too as this is an area where a lot dirt will collect. Try and massage the skin with upward strokes which will help tone the skin and give it a light lift too.
If your skin does feel tight after, you might want to use a toning water with lavender to soothe the skin. This can then be followed with a serum and/or a moisturiser which will ensure the skin does not dry out too much.
Where To Find This Product:
Clean and Clear is available from all leading supermarkets and chemists. The price should be consistent across shops. You can also buy it online.
