Advantages: Less messy, not liquids
Disadvantages: Didnt work for me, Expensive
Oh what a trial it is to be young, passing through that puppy fat phase into that state of adolescent. Coming into the bloom of youth usually means one thing, well, apart from the crushed, wet dreams, attempts at getting out of the house wearing nothing more than a wide belt and a vest, temper tantrums, and that?s spots! Puberty sends those sebaceous glands into overdrive, the end result being spots and pimples! Excuse me, you at the back! I'll have you know I remember those days, horrible clumpy shoes with bottle tops on and not far past those ra-ra skirts. I left those years behind a while back but unfortunately I bought my beautiful skin with me! Now I'm quite happy, the lines haven?t caught up with me yet, but my skins still prone to the odd bratty breakout. Thankfully I'm not at the Cameron Diaz level but my chin and the surrounding area is a bit prone to the odd break-out. And no matter how I cleanse my skin, moisturise, etc, they keep coming back. Eventually I had to admit defeat and decide that anti-spot products were in order. So I decided to brave the aisle with the gaggle of self-conscious teenager (when they weren't busy stuffing their pockets full of illicit goods) and have a perusal. Immediately quite a few were out, due to the fact they contained witch hazel which I'm allergic to. I was quite astonished at how expensive some of them were. It can be quite expensive for trial and error. Eventually, because I'd heard of the brand and the fact that they were on offer at £2.49 drew me to Clearasil Complete Pure Purifying Wipes. Of course that also made it sound super effective. They do declare to 'gently cleanse away oil, dirt and make up, unclog pores and remove bacteria' They apparently leave the skin shine free and they're suitable for sensitive skins. The smell is quite innocuous, it reminds me of wet clay, strange I know, the smell is also quite mild. You get a nice big square, ce
rtainly big enough to cover your face and neck. They are damp, not soaking wet like some more your wet wipe kind of thing, but they do dry out really quickly, so hastily use and cover up the packet. Of course, rather moaningly I do have to say that the packet top doesn?t fold over completely so you end up with a dry end! Now the practical test, I have nearly full make up on, so we'll see just how much of that it removes. Well, its ok, maybe 5 out of 10 but that with me having to scrub a bit, perhaps they would be more suitable for a quick rinse in the morning. Now it mentions leaving your skin slightly refreshed, not so sure on that, but bit its definitely tingling. I'm not too keen on the fact its made my face feel really tight! Its that kind of someone pulling up on your ears feeling. It has, however, made it wonderfully smooth. I must add that they don?t actually make a claim of them being moisturising. But I didn?t buy it for that, I bought it to sort out my spots! Does it work? Actually I'm not so sure, I sure haven?t had a major spot in a while but its not sorting out the small ones nor does it seem to prevent blackheads. Is it worth the money? Not for myself, as I'm not prone to major spots which is what it seems to be effective at preventing, on the same token I find I cant use it around my mouth, in particular around my lips as its obviously too strong and end up causing them instead! And it doesn?t help spots that are already there, so the old toothpaste treatment comes out for those! So to sum it up, it works for some, including my teenage daughter, hence 4 stars, its just not for me. Oh God, another trip to Boots on a Saturday with all those teenagers..............

- 21/12/03 Those Bioré pore strips are wonderful at getting rid of blackheads, and if you use them once a week they keep the skin on your nose lovely and clear. |
