Advantages: Smooths Lips, Nice minty smell and taste, Nice Packaging

Disadvantages: Stings if used to often, Leaves green tint on lips, Leaves bits of grit on lips

Whilst looking around the shops the other week, I decided to see if I could find anything for my lips which had become quite dry and flaky. I ended up buying two products - Blistex revitalising cream and the body shop lipscuff.

I have decided to use the body shop stuff first properly as the Blistex one you have to put on before bed etc and it is strong stuff, and im to tired at bedtime to fuss over my lips at the moment.

PRODUCT
The body shop lipscuff is basically a minty flavoured lip balm with small gritty pieces in it. You are supposed to use it like any other lip balm but the gritty pieces are meant to slough away dry flaking skin on your lips to leave you with super smooth lips.

PACKAGING
The packaging is certainly nothing to shout about here. The lipscuff is basically a dark green tube with a pale mint green lid with darker spots (very feint and small) which I think is supposed to represent what?s inside. Although it is not very fabulous and doesn?t stand out that much, it is fairly smart with its slanty lid and shimmery base and doesn?t look cheap and tacky like some other lip balms.

PRICE
I bought this for £2 exactly. I think it was reduced slightly, but if you are lucky you can sometimes buy this in the sales for as little as 50p! At the time I bought it there was no mega sale at the shop.

WHERE
You can only buy this from the body shop stores. There are no other places this is sold at. There are stores all over the UK so there should be no problem buying this. Another advantage of buying it from the body shop is that you can be certain that they don't test the stuff on animals, which for a gritty lip balm is pretty cruel and pointless anyway. The particular branch I bought this from was the Quadrant shopping centre in Swansea.

USING IT
To use it is really simple. I ran it all over my lips like a normal lip balm in front of the mirror - wait! I looked at my lips - they were a green
/blue colour! I had to wipe my lips slightly to remove the colour it had left, so Im glad I didn't use this like a normal lip balm in public with no mirror! I felt my lips - they definitely felt softer to the touch but not moisturised in any way. I put on a slick of normal lip salve on the top and my lips felt soft and nice.

ADVANTAGES
The advantages of this lipscuff are:
 It is simple to use
 It is small and convenient to carry
 Fairly stylish packaging
 Smoothes lips and removes flaky bits
 Nice mint flavour and smell

DISADVANTAGES
The disadvantages of this lipscuff are:
 Leaves colour on lips although easy to wipe off
 Gritty pieces sting like hell if you use it too often - limit to using once a day or less
 Sometimes gritty pieces are left on your lips
 Will not move huge pieces of dead skin on lips
 No moisturising properties
 Boring colour of packaging doesn't stand out

OVERALL
My overall feeling of this lipscuff is that it is good to use under a lipstick or once in the morning to remove nasty bits of skin and dryness, but it is no use to me as a general lip balm as it doesn?t moisturise and stings if used too often. I would buy this again on offer price, when the sales are on I may stock up but it isn?t worth more than two quid. I do like to use it once a day and my lips have definitely improved (in the short term) as a result. Recommended (just about).

Excellent op, but I'm not keen on minty lip balm, feels like I've drooled while eating polos ;o)

gREAT op! I think this idea sounds really cool, you know the little bits in the lip balm to get rid of flakey skin. The mint scent sounds nice too!! I've never even heard of it though. I would want to try it out but the fact that it doesn't really moisturise is a bit off putting! :)
