Advantages: A great moisturising cream
Disadvantages: none yet
I have a bit of a confession to make; I very rarely use body moisturisers! I know that proberly makes me a bit abnormal in this skin conscious age but I have received so many gift sets with body moisturisers that I decided that it was time to use them up
and to be honest my skin has started to get a bit dry. The first cream that I decided to try was this one mainly because I love Dove products and the majority of the range that I have tried has always been good quality. So did this one live up to the same standards?
COMPANY HISTORY
Dove is a Unilever product and was first launched in America in the 1950's it started with the cleansing bar that was actually developed to treat burn victims during the war. It wasn't released as a beauty bar until 1957 when it was reformulated and renamed the "Original Dove Beauty bar". This soap was aimed at people for dry and sensitive skin, and in 1970 was tested by dermatologists which proved it was milder than 17 of the leading soaps at the time.
Dove came to the UK 12 years ago and became famous for its bath time products and body washes. In 2000 dove started branching out into to deodorants, hair care and body moisturisers, in 2004 came the firming range (and not a moment to soon for me anyway!) Dove is now running the campaign for real beauty, let's be honest you must have been living on the moon if you haven't seen the adverts basically they are using real women of all shapes and sizes for their advertising instead of stick thin models.
PRODUCT STATEMENT
Dove rich moisturising cream is for complete daily skin care. Dove rich moisturising cream offers extra rich and pampering moisturisation. It combines nourishing ingredients and a generous dose of active moisturiser. Especially suitable for very dry skin areas.
PACKAGING
I am used to body moisturisers coming in bottles or pump dispensers but this one comes in sort of flat 150ml plastic tub. You have the famous Dove logo on the lid with the writing in navy and the dove is gold. To open you just unscrew the lid to reveal the white cream within the pot.
USING
I decided the best time for me to start using this product was after my bath mainly because this is the only time in my house that I actually get anytime to myself in our house!
The cream itself smells very much like some sun tan lotions I have used, a kind of nice fresh summery smell. The cream is pure white in colour and really does feel nice and thick when you first touch it. I really didn't expect this pot of cream to actually last very long as when you actually look at the cream in the pot it doesn't really look a lot.
The cream itself is quite deceiving even though it feels quite thick to touch it actually spreads on the skin very well and a little of the cream goes a long way. It absorbs into the skin very quickly and it doesn't take much rubbing into the skin for the cream to disappear, after applying my skin really does feel soft to touch and has a subtle scent that is long lasting. There is no greasy feeling on the skin after using so the skin doesn't feel slippery or wet.
The effects of this cream do actually for ages and my skin still feels soft even after a hard day at work. I can honestly say that this cream has really made my skin feel so much better overall, I have also had no allergic reaction to this cream and my skin can be very sensitive.
INGREDIENTS
Aqua, Petrolatum, Paraffinum Liquidum, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Glycol Stearate, Triethanolamine, Glyceryl Stearate, Cera Microcristallina, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearamide AMP, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Dilauryl Thiodipropionate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene, Linalool, CI 77891
As I have mentioned I did get this product as a gift but I have seen it in good old Superdrug for around £3.00 which isn't bad as the pot has lasted me about a month and I have used it every day.
WOULD I USE IT AGAIN?
I can say with certain that I will buy this one again after I have used up the others that I have hanging around. I was really impressed with how long the product lasted and the improvement in my skin, it really did make my skin feel softer especially around those areas prone to dry skin namely the knees and elbows. So I have finally stopped being abnormal and conformed to body moisturisers!
