Advantages: Moisturises, Protects and Softens Skin
Disadvantages: Dispensing nozzle can be problematic
When it comes to cleansing, Dove is always going to be my first choice. Containing ¼ moisturising cream, and with a pH neutral formulation - Dove always makes for a satisfying soap experience. If you've ever used a Dove product you will know the pleasant scent which characterises and in fact distinguishes their products - a scent I myself am extremely fond of.
Dove as a company started in 1957, with its first product a soap for those with dry and sensitive skin. Dove's production line has continued to grow and expand over the years and now includes such products as anti-perspirants/deodorants, body washes, lotions, beauty bars, hair care, and facial care products. The Dove brand name is currently owned by Unilever and is manufactured in Germany, Brazil, and Hammond in the USA. The product I shall be talking about is the Dove Cream Wash, a liquid soap formulation for 'Healthy & Protected hands'.
- The Packaging -
Dove Cream Wash is encapsulated in a white container with a stylish blue dispensing nozzle. Emblazoned across the front is the 'Dove' branding and the inevitable abstract symbol of the dove, in this instance coming in a pleasant gold shading (the colour of which can vary from product to product). Bottle size here is a reasonable 250ml, with a sticker on the front of the bottle handily stating that this product is 'Also suitable for Face Cleansing'. At roughly 3 inches wide, 2 inches deep, and 6 and a half inches tall, the bottle is unobtrusive and is the perfect size for slotting comfortably on top of the bathroom sink.
- The Fragrance -
The scent of the Cream Wash is hard to define, so what I shall say of the matter is that the smell is subtly pleasant and fresh. The smell of Dove Cream Wash epitomises cleanliness, however little more can really be said.
- The Feel and Texture -
The quality of Dove Cream Wash is showcased in the consistency of the liquid. Whereas a typical characterisation of liquid soap is that of a runny and somewhat gloopy formula, this particular product is far more consistent and when you squeeze the soap from the nozzle to your hand, you need not worry about the soap running off your hand as where it is squeezed is roughly where it stays. The soap is silky smooth, feeling luxuriously lacy in the palm of your hand and causing no irritation as rubbed delicately between the fingers.
- Price -
The price of the product can vary from store to store, with a half price offer at Boots currently placing the product at a respectable 86 pence. The standard Boots price is £1.73, which itself is fairly satisfactory - however at its current price Dove Cream Wash is a must have. My suggestion when purchasing this product is to look around in as many places as possible, as more than likely you will find it on offer somewhere.
- Ingredients -
As taken from the back of the product, the ingredients in Dove Cream Wash are as follows:
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Sodium Chloride, Allantoin, Sodium Lactate, TEA-Lactate, Serine, Lactic Acid, Urea, Sorbitol, Acrylates Copolymer, Isopropyl Palmitate, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Parfum, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool.
- Final Thoughts -
I will wholeheartedly recommend this product to anyone. At its current price especially, there is no better liquid soap out there on the market in my humble opinion. With its stylish packaging, silky feel, and fresh scent, Dove Cream Wash is the obvious choice of liquid soap. My one qualm with the product however would have to be that of the dispensing nozzle. Although I had no problems with using the dispensing nozzle itself and found it easy to press down, dispensing an adequate amount of soap into the hand - in order to get the soap to dispense, the nozzle must first be turned from its initial sideways facing position forward. When sideways facing, the nozzle is in a locked position, however when forward facing you can freely dispense the soap as the dispenser thus becomes unlocked. I feel that this could have done with having been labelled as for those heavy handed individuals such as myself - the dispensing nozzle could easily be broken through attempting to push down the lever without having first faced the nozzle forward.
Having always had trouble finding products that suit my needs due to my sensitive skin, Dove products always do the trick, and with its pH neutral balance; Dove Cream Wash is no exception. Whether you're looking to wash your hands, or face - Dove Cream Wash is the perfect solution to meet your needs and requirements, and is strong evidence to suggest as to why Dove has grown to become one of the world's largest cleansing brands.
