Banish those wrinkles- but not with this product! (Dr Harnik Anti-wrinkle Eye Pads)

I bought this product a few days ago as my eye area has been in need of some TLC.

Tesco is currently selling the Dr Harnik range at 1/3 off the original price. These anti-wrinkle eye pads already seem to retail cheaper at Tesco than elsewhere. So where other places are selling this product for just under £10, I got these for £4.56- bargain!

It's not clear on the box but it actually contains 4 sets of 2 eye pads which are single-use only. So by my calculations that works out around just over £1 per set.

****What is says on the box****

The eye pads are supposed to give you a 'non surgical eyelift'. I think that's a pretty hefty claim as many people are opting for botox etc. these days because, as we know, many beauty products on the store shelves just simply don't live up to their anti-wrinkle claims. More about that later...

'Peptide Technology Hydrogel BTX' has been incorporated into the design of the eye pads (Does anybody actually know what that means in real terms??) as well as Collagen and CoQ10 to 'prevent wrinkle fatigue'.

It claims that it has clinically proven 'special wrinkle reduction actives' and 'instantly minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles'.

The Dr Harnik range of products has been designed by Helena Harnik who is a 'renowned dermatologist dedicated to innovative skincare treatments. The Dr Harnik range builds on this heritage, combining science with the most advances ingredients to provide a comprehensive range of specialist and benefit led eye and skincare products.'

The eye pads are meant to give you 'an instant beauty treatment to fight the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area' with 'no need for Botox injections'. This is because the eye pads contain muscle relaxing actives and use an 'advanced transdermal delivery system to target problem areas and provide concentrated active ingredients where they are needed most'.

They can be used 2-3 times per week.

****My experience using this product****

Once I peeled the backing from the sticky pads I placed the contoured pads just below my eye area. I don't have a very wide face and found that the eye pads are unnecessarily long at the edges (i.e. touching my hairline). I left them on for the specified 15-20 minute timeframe.

They had a cooling effect on application, which at one point started giving a slightly burning sensation which had me worried, but this soon disappeared. When I peeled the pads off, I was as critical as ever about the results. As with so many beauty products (and I'm sure there are many women out there with the same experience), I found myself trying to convince myself that the product had at least some noticeable effect. This involved scrutinising the effects (or lack thereof) from every angle in the mirror. I struggled to see any major difference in the fine lines around my eye area- or did I? My skin here did seem slightly more radiant, but then I had been drinking more water throughout the day than usual so was it really down to the eye pads?

In the end, I concluded that some slight improvement was noticeable in terms of brighter skin, but I can still the fine lines around my eyes and these eye pads clearly are not about to shift them in one go.

I don't know if there is a cumulative effect when using these eye pads on a regular basis but I do know that my skin is responsive to healthy eating and good hydration. I'll be spending more money on the latter in the future rather than forking out on these hyped-up eye pads.

Summary: Not convinced it does what it says on the box!
