Advantages: Effective and a please to use.

Disadvantages: Quite pricey.

Elemis is a wonderful salon brand. They use natural products and use them in a scientifically proven way, winning many awards along the way in the beauty industry. They are available in many high-end spas, hotels and cruise-liners all over the world and are as known for their body products as well as their facial products.

This product was originally produced as a limited edition product
to the general public. The demand from the public was great, but the cost of producing the product was quite high. However, it became a firm favourite with many fans and has been around ever since.

The product itself is a pure luxury, salt based, body exfoliator. Note that it must NOT be used on the face, even by men who tend to have a thicker skin and can take the more vigorous exfoliators. Also, remember that sea salt can be quite naturally abrasive so do not be too heavy-handed, especially for those with more sensitive skins.

It contains ginger, which stimulates the activity of the mucous membranes of the skin and thus creates a protection especially useful in winter. Lime peel to help cleanse, stimulate and give the skin a radiant type glow. The sea salt itself is used for its exfoliating properties and because it is combined with oils, it hydrates your skin as opposed to drying it out. For this reason apply to damp skin ( to absorb the oils more effectively and for ease of use for the product application ) and do not remove with shower/bath cleansing type products as you will want to keep the oils on your skin.

After you have rinsed the salt glow off, I would lock in the oils by applying a body balm or body cream. Elemis make a wonderful monoi based body balm which is just wonderful after the salt glow or the monoi melt oil.

Key ingredients :

Sea Salt (Maris sal), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Peel, Sucrose Tetrastearate Triacetate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Oil, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triclosan, Propylparaben.

Apply with gentle circular motions to damp skin in the bath or shower, concentrating on problem areas such as knees, elbows and feet. Fantastic for fake tans when you need to even out your skintone to re-apply. Rinse with warm water.

However !! Do not use when pregnant or whilst breast feeding. Elemis products using certain natural ingredients and plant based oils are very potent and although these types of products are great for sensitive skins, many natural based products like this are not suitable for use during pregnancy and breast-feeding. I would recommend the Elemis milk bath for a luxury treat during this period and even safe enough for baby too !!

Summary: For that luxurious way to exfoliate the body you can't go wrong.

I used a sample of this and to be honest there are far cheaper and just as effective salt scrubs out there. Even I who spend an extortionate amount on skin care and cosmestics find Elemis prices a bit over the top.
