Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Hand Cream

To be honest, I do not know much about causes of dry skin however I am aware skin looses moisture is affected with age, hot climates and everyday chores. In combination with those of us who have sensitive skin keeping, your skin moisturised can be a nightmare.

But what happened to my hands, it seems I reached 38 years and my hands started to fall apart, was it the washing up (I hate rubber gloves), cleaning the oven/bathroom, moving files and constant typing at work or the gardening (well not so much of that!!)

With all the cracking and peeling skin hands also seemed to attract water blisters like bees to honey, I finally gave up and sought help at my Boots local chemist when the products in from the local supermarket were not working and my hands were actually starting to bleed slightly in some areas.

Luckily, the pharmacist is a person who I have known for years and trust his medical advise. He suggested I had a mild form of dermatitis Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Hand Cream with 5% Urea (obviously advising if it got worse to see my Dr).

The packaging is simplistic in its design, which a combination of white background and blue which gives a refresh clean appearance. The funnelled shaped bottle is 6cm at the top to 4cm at the bottom with a height of 11cm. The round blue cap is at the bottom as the bottle stands so this helps all the fluid to drop down. With the bottle being this size, I have found it easy to fit into all of my handbags.

Literature provided in the packaging, provides information on direction of use, expected results of using the product, dermatologically it states to be effective. This hand cream is more expensive at £8.40 than the usual products on the market.

On the first use of this product I noticed that it was fragrance free, I checked the packaging again and I found that it was also colourant - free as well. The packaging states that it aims to provide long-lasting moisturisation, whilst helping rough and dry hands to feel smooth and soft and to help against further moisture loss. Well this cream had its work cut out with my hands.

So on I ploughed and made my first mistake.. oh dear.. I used to much and ended rubbing it in my elbows, knees and feet. So if you do use this product remember don't use to much about the size of a 1 pence piece at first and see how that works in and then slowly add more until the thick textured white creamy liquid is completely absorbed.

For the first couple of days I found that initially I was reapply the lotion about every four hours, (which was less that the other hand creams), but after that my skin moisture seem to start bouncing back and I was applying the cream three times day.

After about a week the cracking across the sides of my hands were significantly reducing, with the itching and irritation had noticeably decreased.

Three months down the line, I am still using the cream (actually the same bottle) talk about good value for money). Apart from the odd collection of water blisters now and again the only time my hands get irritated is when I have not used Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Hand Cream and my hands are noticeably dryer.

This is one product I will be keeping in my handbag and I recommend to those with dry skin conditions.

I have not used any other Eucerin products but they can be found on their website at http://www.eucerin.co.uk/dry_skin/dry_skin.asp which is well worth checking out.
