i have a jar of eve lom on my windowsill which i now occasionally use. but i have to agree with another reviewer when i say that it's the FLANNEL which does hte job. Now, i was a bit slow on the uptake with this flannel malarkey so it wasn't until i was into my second pot of eve lom that i twigged it was the flannel that was getting the job done and not the product. hence, i have two flannels as you get one with every jar. in the blurb that accompanies the product it says that it's a 'special' flannel made of muslin. i'm not sure that this justifies the price of £12 for a pack of three flannels as all they are is a bit of muslin cloth folded over and stitched round the edges. you can buy a metre of muslin for about £1.50 and if you can't sew there's only you and the washbasin that'll notice it isn't stitched around the edges! one more thing: the other skin-benefit that comes with the eve lom cleanser is the leaflet that tells you how to give yourself a good old eve lom facial. the thing is, you don't really need the cleanser to do it, as the techniques of massaging particular points in the face are beneficial without that particular cleanser; another, cheaper one would do. i say cheaper, i've been using either virgin vie cleansers or dermalogica (without a great deal of enthusiasm, it might be added), but after seeing batcat's recommendations for ponds cold cream, i'll be trying that next time i pass boots! anyway, i use the eve lom facial techniques (sometimes, as tey're a bit of a faff) along with the muslin flannel and those things are what works, not the cleanser.
the cleanser also feels a bit icky in terms of texture.
to be fair, i don't find the smell of eve lom cleanser overly eucalyptussy or unpleasant, in fact i quite like it. but smelling nice is not enough! my skin, by the way, is combination, thirty years old and if left to its own devices veers between excessive dryness and blackheadishness.
