Advantages: Deep cleansing
Disadvantages: Strong smell
If you, like me, are the kind of person to wander about Space NK desperately looking for an excuse to treat yourself, then you will undoubtedly already heard of Eve Lom products. A few weeks ago, upon the recommendation of two of my friends, I bought the Eve Lom cleanser from Space NK. I will admit to having had some initial misgivings in buying this cleanser, largely due to the seemingly complicated procedures for using it, but was more than pleasantly surprised. Containing aromatic oils, the cleanser has quite a strong smell that I am not very keen on though my friends think is lovely. The product is quite thick and greasy and should be liberally smeared on the face. A muslin cloth is provided which should be soaked in hot water and repeatedly put on the face before massaging in with the cloth. The last step is to soak the cloth in cold water and rest it on the face to close pores. I am sure you will agree that this does sound a bit of a bathroom nightmare though in reality is not such an ordeal. The good news is that your face is left feeling both very clean and soft. Eve Lom recommends that this product be used once nightly and advises that no other cleansing routine is necessary. I would imagine that if your skin were particularly dry however, it would be best to use a moisturiser as well. This product is expensive at GBP 39.50 per tub but should last for at least a couple of months. Best of all, it really does its job and both cleanses and livens up the skin.

- 27/09/00 I have been using Eve Lom cleanser for about six months and can honestly say it is the best cleanser I have used. It is a little fiddly to use at first but I have got the routine down to 3 minutes. It removes every bit of make up and leaves my combination skin really smooth and comfortable, not a bit greasy. MaureyL, maybe you're using too much? You only need use a very small amount, rub between your hands to emulsify/soften before massing over your face and make sure the water is quite hot otherwise it won't remove the cleanser properly. It really is worth persevering! |

- 20/06/00 I really wanted to like this cleanser. It does indeed have a lot going for it-- the muslin cloth is really wonderful at exfoliating, and I really looked forward to the massage/steam/cold water process. But the reality was that even with a thorough clean, it just left my face too greasy. And the act of rubbing a very stiff cream all over my face made me nervous. It's far too greasy and oily for me to use it to remove my eye makeup, so that means a separate eye makeup remover as well. I had to pass on it. |
