Advantages: I got it free
Disadvantages: doesn't help my skin
I was given a pot of the FCUK body soufflé by a friend a few weeks ago. I was quite excited when I saw the pot as I have been wanting to try some of the fcuk products for a while now. The first thing I questioned about the product is "What is a body soufflé?" Well in a nutshell it's a body wash or shower cream, whichever you want to call it.
Packaged in a pot with a screw top lid, this product is immediately different from many other body washes that usually come in packaging with flip top lids or pump actions lids to make life easier in the shower. I knew I was going to be up against it trying to open and close the lid with slippery hands in the shower, but it was a freebie so I'm not complaining too much.
The pot shows through a mocha pale brown colour, which I was assuming the product was going o look like when I opened the lid.
I read the ingredients before opening for a sniff, and was pleased to see that the product contained grapefruit, grape seed and vitamin E. All this is designed to leave your skin looking cleansed and conditioned as well as being left soft and supple.
Opening the pot I was greeted with a pale mocha substance that had a tinge of white to it. It looked quite pearlised and attractive, so I was eager to add my nose to the product.
This is where my disappointment started with the product. I couldn't smell any grapefruit or any hint of it for that matter. It took me a long while to actually work out what I could smell. I thought to begin with that I could almost smell tobacco but I know my nose was going to be way off the mark with this. I decided eventually that it was more musky notes that were coming through with possibly a hint of citrus mixed in but this was hidden well.
It wasn't a smell that made me want to rush into the shower and try it, but I was going to persevere with it as it could smell a lot different when on my body and reacting to my own skin.
Applying this product is very easy, and thankfully the lid is easy to open and close with wet hands. The consistency of the body wash is fairly thick and gloopy so when you scoop up in your hands it doesn't run everywhere and create more wastage.
As you apply to your body the cream turns a white colour. I could see straightaway that I was easily going to be able to over use this product without trying. Personally this wasn't going to be a problem as it was a gift, but to spend money on it may prove a different story.
I didn't find the body wash lathered up very well, and it didn't appear to soften my skin in the shower, more made it clean by way of a squeaky feeling.
After effects of the body wash were pleasant enough once I got past the smell. It doesn't really make my skin any softer than normal which was a shame after reading the product details and the promises they made.
The smell however does linger on my skin for hours afterwards. Again this isn't something I was too overjoyed with as I am not a massive fan of the scent this provides, and sadly it doesn't change as my skin accepts the product like some do.
I researched this product online to get a price and found that my large 250ml pot would cost £5. If you liked the scent I think you would get a long usage from the product and it may well serve you well as a shower gel, but not as anything else.
My one piece of advice to anyone wanting to try this product would be to take the sniff test before you buy.
This one isn't for me.
Summary: a poor shower cream
