Advantages: Firms the neck area, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Price (maybe)
After losing weight due to illness in my younger days, I had been left with some lose skin under my chin. Nothing of pelican-esque proportions, but fairly noticeable all the same. A few months ago my partner handed me a tube of Gatineau's Firming Throat Gel and said to try it for a few weeks. ::: The Gel ::: The throat gel is part of Gatineau's Strategie Jeunesse range, that are supposed to "prevent the appearance of wrinkles and restore firmness to the face and throat". The gel itself is quite runny really - I think this is so it can be applied easily without pulling the skin. It just looks like someone has mixed honey with milk to give a yellowy white substance. The fragrance can only be described as 'old fashioned soap'. It is quite strong, and reminds me of what Camay soap smelt of 25 years ago! ::: Using the gel ::: I've been using the gel twice a day, morning and night, after cleansing my face and neck. You only need to use a really small amount, about the size of a pea, as its runny texture makes a little go a long way. You are supposed to massage the gel lightly on to your neck, using downward strokes to the base of the neck. I believe you also have to be careful not to drag or pull the skin by pressing too hard as this action will make the skin give instead of firm. Afterwards you do of course smell of soap, but I guess smelling of 'clean' can't be a bad thing! ::: Results ::: I have to say that I've been really surprised. I hardly expected some gel that you rub on to make any difference, but it has. My whole neck is a lot firmer, and is now defined and shaped and not all saggy like before. The results have been so great that people have even commented on the fact! ::: Downside ::: There's always one, and I guess it is the price really. It costs around £28 for 50ml, though
I've seen it for slightly better value as part of a pack on a certain three-lettered shopping channel. However, the fact that it actually works and that you only use a small amount each day maybe means that it isn't terrible value for money really.

- 03/07/03 I'm glad to hear it works so well for you. There are also facial exercises you can do to firm up skin in the neck area. |
