Advantages: Innovative packaging

Disadvantages: Results don't justify the price

I'd seen this product advertised on television and in magazines for ages, so when it was in special offer in Superdrug I decided to give it ago as I was (and probably still am) looking slightly the worse for wear after a few too many late night coursework and revision marathons. The product normally retails around the £10 mark, but Superdrug were selling it for half price at just under £5.

The packaging is really different to other similar products on the market because it's like a pen with a silver ball on the end which you roll under your eye to apply the stuff inside. You get 15ml and as the pen thing is semi-transparent you can see how much you've got left. The stuff seems to last for ages but when there isn't very much left you will need to hold the green pen bit higher than the silver ball when you apply it, to ensure the liquid is applied evenly.

The actual liquid is a bit like a gel in that once you've applied it, it seems to sit on the surface of your skin for ages and if you're in a hurry you'll need to wipe it off before you apply make-up because otherwise foundation just seems to be really tricky to put on evenly. Also, try not to apply it over make-up as it leaves very obvious shiny traces of liquid/gel where it's been applied.

The product claims to revitalise the eye area using its formula of Pro-vitamin B5 and caffeine to hydrate the area around the eyes and make them appear refreshed. If applied morning and night the product does seem to reduce puffiness and after a few weeks dark circles did appear reduced a little bit. However, I can't help feeling that extra sleep and a very cold flannel over the eyes in the morning would have a greater effect, for a fraction of the cost. I might keep the container and use another product but use the silver ball to apply it, as I think this was the main contributor to any effects the product had.

Summary: Maybe give this a try if it's on special offer.
