Advantages: cleans skin, refreshes and smooths . Leaves face feeling soft and not dried out .
Disadvantages: I can't think of any.. ok .it can be a little messy as the cotton wool does not absorb it.
I never used to use cleansing lotions or potions as I never felt like they really took away my make up and grim from the day. However, a little while ago I had a professional facial and I noticed that they used all kinds of things on my face! I felt extremely spoilt and like I had a layer of skin on my face. As an after thought I spoke to the beautician about a facial skin care regime and what you should really do to keep the skin fresh and looking peachy! One of the things she advised was a good cleanser for sensitive skin. EVEN if you don't have sensitive skin, why use anything harsher?? I guess it's a bit like the low fat question. Do you buy a low fat option if it is exactly the same as the full fat option just with
fewer calories??
Anyway, she advised me that using a sensitive cleanser was a good way of 'double cleansing'. So after your scrub or oil based make up remover, use a cleanser as a softer more delicate way of cleaning the face. I was impressed with her theory and trotted off to buy some cleanser.
** Garnier Skin Naturals - Clean Sensitive Range **
Garnier seem to be on point with all their body and beauty ranges at the moment. With everything from Anti-Ageing creams and wands to hair boosting conditioners and oils. I was looking for a sensitive cleanser so when I saw this range it immediately caught my eye.
This range of cleansers and face wipes are made with sensitive skin in mind. They aim to remove make-up and dirt without rubbings. This is great because if you're like me and end up going red, blotchy and having tight skin then rubbing is the last thing you need.
None of their products contain alcohol, so this is a big thumbs up in how gentle it is on the skin. If you're not aware, alcohol is great at drying out and irritating the skin. In my mind alcohol just wasn't made to sink into my skin!
Garnier also claim that they use active natural ingredients where possible, although I am not sure how true and justified this is, it may still explain how they have made their products so skin friendly.
** Garnier - Anti-tightness Cleansing Milk **
This Cleansing milk claims to remove makeup with no need for rubbing and also to soothe and soften the skin. It promises to even clear away waterproof make-up without leaving any residue. This sounded perfect for me as after any cleansing my face usually feels tight and dry.
** Price & Packaging **
I bought this for £4.99 for 200ml from boots, however at the time the Garnier range was on their 3 for 2 offers. So I got three products for £10 which I think is a bargain. You could literally grab your whole daily skincare regime from Garnier for under £10. So my advice is to hold out for the offers. Boots always have skin care promotions and Garnier are always part of the offer.
The packaging is very representative of the product. It is a simple white bottle with a pop up lid so know having to worry about it rolling under the bed! It has a lot of writing on the bottle but this was a benefit for me as I knew exactly what this product had to offer, how it worked and why it worked. I felt as though I was buying a really professional and trustworthy cleanser. Instead of all the glitz and glam it was basic but extremely informative. It still had a pretty look to it with its water lily on the front so it still is appealing to the eye.
** Instructions **
Using a cotton wool pad soaked in the milk, gently wipe over the face, eyes and neck. Repeat with the cotton wool pad until your skin is perfectly clean.
I really like the fact that you don't have to wipe it off with 'damp' cotton wool, as I feel this is about as beneficial as using soap and water! This is a recipe for disaster if you have sensitive skin. The fact they advise you to use again if necessary shows how gentle the cleanser is.
** What Is It Like To Use & Results **
Down to the important part. The milk itself is white in colour and quite watery. (Thus resembling the real 'milk' that we drink!). It applies really well to the face and you don't need much because it doesn't soak into the cotton wool but rests on it until you apply. If you use too much it will get messy. Trust me! Because you don't need much, the cream seems to last forever! I have had mine for about 4 months now, admittedly I haven't used it every day because I am a skincare junkie and I like to mix and match, but I still have a good half bottle left after using it 2 or 3 times a week. Brilliant!
The first thing I noticed was how cooling and refreshing it was. No tingling as it has no alcohol, but just very soothing. This cleansing milk has extracts of Water Lily which has great skin soothing elements. I was slightly worried at first because the cream is very wet on the face, and after my first application I still had cream all over the shop. But after my second use of cotton wool it all wiped off very easily and left my skin feeling very soft and not tight in the slightest. Bingo!
I was also very impressed with just how much make up and dirt it removed. Because of its lack of alcohol and oil I thought it might just move the first layer and leave the hard stuff remaining, but it did really well at giving my face a good old clean, without me rubbing. It almost effortlessly took the dirt away!
This cleansing milk has no scent because it is non-perfumed, so you don't have to worry about any strange odours floating around.
** Conclusion & Recommendations **
This worked exactly how I wanted it to. It cleaned my face better then expected and left it feeling soft and supple. No red blotches and no tightness.
Garnier recommend this for people with sensitive skin. I 100% agree with them. It is also great for people who wear make up all day and need to give their skin a bit of TLC and also for people whose skin reacts to the change in temperature. Even if you don't have sensitive skin this will still be beneficial for your face cleansing and really does give your skin some love.
100% Recommended!
Summary: A great cleanser for loved skin.
