Advantages: Smells nice, plumps up the skin.
Disadvantages: Leaves skin pretty greasy.
As previously discussed in a previous review, I have been using a lot of Garnier's products in the last 10 years although not that many now. With this mask I still use occasionally, but only when I really need to - it's not really a necessity in my opinion, but I will go into that a little later.
What is it?
********
A mask that contains rich moisturising properties including arcadia honey, aiming to leave your skin plumped up with moisture, pampered and comforted.
On application:
************
This mask is very easy to apply, it is a little runny but not to the point where you would be worried about making a mess - it is just about the right consistency, but it would probably benefit from being a little thicker - would be great for those who like to still be walking around and doing stuff while they have this mask on. You only need to leave this mask on for about 10 minutes, but I often leave it on for a little longer so to give it more time to sink in and usually the full benefits of this show up.
In fact, it doesn't really matter how long you decide to leave it on - as you don't need to necessarily rinse it off. It just advises you to wipe off the excess with a cotton pad after about 10 minutes.
Smell:
*****
The smell is actually quite difficult to describe - psychologically you would assume honey, after all, it does make sense, but it seems to lean more towards vanilla, although more importantly the bottom-line is that it still smells nice. What's notable about it is that it leaves a sense of comfort and homeliness - perhaps a reminder of those old cosy home baking afternoons in the middle of winter (it's madness to get this from a mask, but try it and you will see what I mean!). On the other hand, it may make you want to rebel and get it off after a while. The scent is pretty prominent, so if you can't stand it after half an hour it may not be a good idea to leave the residue on through the night.
Effects:
******
Well, my face is certainly more moisturised - in fact it leaves a shiny greasy sheen to be more exact! Probably best suited to those who have very dry skin, but there's no harm in asking for more moisture with any other type of skin. I'm still advising on caution for those who have sensitive skins - I've tried this at times when my skin has been flaring up, and it doesn't really help. To be fair, this mask does make your skin look plumper - where I had depressed lines due to dryness this seemed to help immensely.
Best to avoid using this before going out unless you're good with getting rid of all the grease - a toner would probably do it but usually it would be laced with alcohol which is why it works to get all the shine off, the alcohol actually dries the skin, so it would be a complete waste of your time using this mask in the first place. I have found that the best effects come out when it has been applied just before bedtime, the excess wiped off and that would leave a little residue for your skin to work with through the night.
Cost:
****
I have always liked masks by Garnier, not only are they effective they are also pretty good value for money. With a lot of other masks I seem to be getting a 10ml pack for around 89p, With Garnier, it comes in a twin pack for £1.29 with 6ml in each sachet , although this seems less I find the 6ml is ample as I often have a little left over. With the other brands 10ml is too much - even after a good attempt pile the excess onto my face I still end up with some going for waste.
Afterthoughts:
***********
I mentioned earlier that I use this when I only have to, by now I'm sure you would have realised yourself that this mask is like an over night moisturiser - so there isn't really any need to buy this as a necessity, it could be done the same with your own decent night moisturiser. However, this isn't available in their range as a moisturiser so it is nice to have a change from time to time.
Something nice to try for the weekend.
Summary: Nice to try but not really a necessity.
