Advantages: Lovely smell, sinks in & moisturises well, leaves skin soft & refreshed, pretty packaging

Disadvantages: Expensive, not miracle cure

I came across a freebie on the internet a few weeks ago for a free sample of a new Garnier product. It's not often I try a sample sachet of something and actually bother much with it afterwards; it just goes in the bin after after I've used it and don't think about it again.

Vital Restore, however, caught my eye with the pretty pink packaging (and I'm not usually a pink-type girl!) and the lovely smell it has. If it wasn't for the price, I would definitely recommend this. But considering it's a bit pricey, it's probably only for those who don't mind paying more for a brand or who want to treat themselves. As for me, I only bought this as a one-off treat, and not a daily moisturiser in replacement of what I currently buy.

... What is it? ...

Vital Restore is produced by Garnier, a brand I consider to be trustworthy and reliable. They have years of experience and knowledge, and have only gained in popularity over the last few years thanks to increased media coverage. Vital Restore is primarily aimed at those with 'mature skin' as it's an 'anti-ageing' product, but I think this would appeal to any age over 18 (I say over 18 mainly because of the price).

... Buying The Product ...

Vital Restore is a range of anti-ageing products, including the following:

Day cream - £9.78 50ml
Night Cream - £9.78 50ml
Eye Cream - £9.78 15ml
Daily Beauty Serum - £11.74 30ml

The prices here are from Boots, though I've seen the range in various beauty stores and some supermarkets. Although not every product in the range is available everywhere, one version of it is more than likely to be any given beauty shop as it does seem to be quite popular.

... The Product ...

Although there are 4 different products to target different areas/purposes, the Vital Restore range is all developed with a 'unique combiination of orchid extract and soy-bio proteins'. These 2 key ingredients rehydrate the skin, and reinforce and protect its structure in the fight against visible signs of ageing, such as age spots. The first 'stimulates cell vitality', whilst the latter 'stimulates the production of collagen and elastin'.

Garnier claims these ingredients restore radiance and revitalise skin; a miracle many women wish were possible cheaply and quickly. I don't believe that there is such a miracle cure for skin or signs of ageing, but I do think that looking after your skin can only be a good thing to keep it in its best condition.

... Day cream ...

As I've only tried the day cream, I can't really comment on the other products in the range, though I think my opinion would be along the same lines.
The day cream has SPF 15 protection and UVA/UVB filters to protect against premature skin ageing.

The day cream comes in a pretty pink tub, which is quite small and circular, with a white screw-on lid. Looks-wise, it does look very attractive and neat, and is a good size for taking with you on holiday or whatever. However, at £9.78, a 50ml may be cute, but it's rather expensive.

It's designed to be used as a normal moisturiser during the day. You only need apply a very small amount as the consistency is just right to allow a thin layer to be smoothed over your face and neck. It's best to rub in gently in upwards circular movements.

It sinks in quickly and doesn't feel greasy or sticky, so the texture is spot on. It's smells great too; I usually go for un-perfumed products but this has a 'pretty' floral smell that's very appealing, and lasts for quite a while without being overpowering or sickly.

I can't really comment on whether I look any younger, especially as I apparently have a 'youthful face' (though I'm not sure if that's a compliment), but creams are usually designed for long-term use to get anti-ageing benefits. This isn't a quick fix and wont guarantee you any miracles, but it is a lovely product to use. The smell, appearance and texture is good, and it leaves my face feeling softer and more refreshed.

Overall, I would recommend this if you want to treat yourself, because to me, £10 on a small tub of face cream is more of an indulgent purchase rather than an everyday product that I would use consistently. There has been so much debate as to whether so-called 'anti-ageing' products like these actually work, though I think different things work for different people. All in all, it's a good product that's unfortunately overpriced, but if you see it on offer then it's definitely worth a try :o)
